The frig and water pump will not work unless shore power is on.  I’ve checked all the fuses and the two in the frig area, any ideas?. How does the inverter work? I’m thinking something might be wrong with the inverter? bill

Billy,

Both the on-board water pump and the electronics for the fridge opperate off 12v.  So the inverter shouldn't be the culprit.  Everything should work fine even with the inverter turned off dead.  At least that's how it is with my Tripp-Lite inverter.

On my 4 year old model, I have a kill-all-12v switch by the entry door.  I assume in your case, it is on or you would be saying the lights don't work either.

You've checked the obvious stuff like fuses.  I don't know what to advise other than contacting Kermit at Phoenix USA.

Check the battery switch . This is the switch as you come in the door. You have to turn it on for battery power. Are you able to turn on the over head light? You shouldn't need the invertor to run the pump or fridge.

Hi Billy and congratulations!

Check that your fridge is on auto so it will cycle to whatever is the most efficient power source [propane, A/C].  Might also want to make sure you have propane & that the valve is open at the tank! Keep in mind that it takes a good bit of time for the frig to initially cool off - my instruction booklet recommends turning it on 8 hrs before starting your trip.

Water pump could be coincidental since it runs off 12V.  Assuming you have water in the holding tank [you don't need the pump of you are on city water hook up & city water hook up will not fill your holding tank].

You sound a lot like I did when my wife & I drove our 2551 from PA to AZ when we picked it up in November.

That battery kill switch by the entry door should never be used when on trips, only when in storage.  That swiitch kills 12V opperations, from fridge to pump to lighting and fans.  We learned the hard way.  On our maiden voyage when ours was new, we went out for the day and I hit that switch thinking I was doing good.  Our food in the fridge suffered even though we were hooked to shore power.

Billy, mine glows red when on (house batteries connected) and turns dark when off (disconnected). Be aware that turning it off turns off all 12 volt including the LP detector, furnace fan, lights, fantastic fan and frig. The Ford dash radio works off the engine battery. If I store my rig for more than a few days,  I turn it off to keep the batteries from running down powering the LP detector, otherwise I leave it on.

Bill,

When not on shore power, the red light will go out when you push "store" (disconnect).  When on shore power, the red light stays on when you push "store", however, the batteries are in fact disconnected.

When on shore power, you can disconnect the batteries to keep from constanly charging and all 12v systems will operate including refer and fridge.  The converter supplies all 12v circuits.

Obviously, when not on shore power you must have the batteries connected.

OK, we got that all cleared up. Another question to Bob, did you have any trouble registering in Calif?   bill

To register a new vehicle in Calif purchased out of state you have to bring the vehicle to the DMV so they can verify the VIN and underhood smog label.  You also have to have the vehicle smog tested.  They are verifying that the vehicle was built Calif smog compliant.  Seems ridiculous for a new vehicle, but that is bureaucracy at it's best.

Phoenix Cruiser uses Ford chassis that are Calif smog compliant.
