Casual Observation-PC Pricing
« on: April 05, 2019, 02:04:32 pm »
Not that anyone (at least me) can ever figure out the methods and algorthm's manufactures and dealers go through to set RV pricing. I thought I would try to do a little comparison on the posted prices of PC's on RV trader.

IT APPEARS THAT........

1-The 2019 units for sale at Campers Inn locations are advertised at MSRP prices and match fairly closely the PC "pricing program" on the PC website.  This also considers that the dealer has added a destination charge and probably some other dealer prep items.  So posted prices are before any discounting.

2-The 2019 units for sale at the Elkhart factory location are advertised (I am almost positive) at discounted prices.  Within 2%-3% of the PC "pricing programs" final factory direct pricing for the models sampled.

So whats this tell me. I dunno?    I was just getting a little confused about the disparity in pricing between the factory and dealers.  Now it kind of makes sense to me. (cheer)

Great that your are comparing prices at both avenues .

Can you give some examples as I am not up to speed on this new avenue that PC has been pursuing.

This link explains PC new business model.

They advertise on rvt.com if you want prices.  They can sell from Campers Inn or directly from factory.

Hope this is helpful.

If I needed a real price, I would call the factory.  They will connect you with a Camper's Inn rep on site at the factory.  That person will give you an accurate price which I understand will be a few percent below the pricing feature on their website.

This may be hard to follow, and I am only speculating my findings.

There is a 2019 model 2910D for sale at Campers Inn The advertised price is $202,799.  There is a 2019 model 2910T for sale at Elkhart the advertised price is $166,178. If you use the PC pricing calculator the MSRP for both these coaches is around $203,000.  Elkhart has already applied the standard discount of around 20%.  The Campers Inn Dealer has not.  My assumption is that the negotiated final price will and should match the factory direct price Elkhart is offering.

At this point there will probably be some confusion when a potential Campers Inn customer goes onto the PC web site and runs the numbers on the coach hes looking at.  I guess that would be up to the sales folks to explain.  I do think that the factory and the dealers have to get on the same page in terms of whats published for prices.....or change the PC pricing model.

You would think the Campers Inn advertisement would say....

"MSRP is $203,000  Call Now For Our Massive Price Cut, Factory-Direct Price"

If I were shopping for a new rig and saw a price so high, I would be quick to move on and look at other brands.  It's what I did with The Dynamax Isata Sport and the Coach House back in the day.  Their MSRP was double what I wanted to spend, and in the end that is exactly what happened.  I bought a new PC-2350 for half the MSRP of the other two I mentioned.

This invoice just came up on a brand new 2910D just listed in Elkhart.  Splains everything very clearly.  Probably should be included on all units I would think.

Three of the five Campers Inns selling PC's now have the MSRP and discounted price showing on their web sites.  The other two show the MSRP crossed out.

As thought they have added $1475 destination charge and $1275 dealer prep which seems to be eliminated in final pricing?
