Ford Focus.Four Down

Considering a 2015_2016 Ford Focus with automatic transmission as a four down dinghy. Seems easy to use once it is set up for towing. Only have to disconnect negative battery terminal.

Anyone have any experience with this setup good or bad? Could I add power from the PC to eliminate having to disconnect battery negative terminal?

Hi Ron,

I am not 100% certain, but one of the pins in the connector by the PC hitch is there for the purpose of supplying power to the tow vehicle to prevent battery drain.  I believe a diode is required in the tow vehicle so it does not supply power back to the motor home, draining it's battery when parked for the night while still hooked up together.

I think something is wrong with the diode in my tow vehicle because when we are parked for the night, my back-up camera stays powered-up until I disconnect the electrical cord between vehicles.  It has been that way since day-one.  I really need to look at that.....the one weird thing looming with our setup.

I have a 2018 Focus hatchback set up to two with our 2552. I have a single blade disconnect on the negative post, EzPz!

Thanks Bill for your input.  That is reassuring. The disconnect is a good idea. I would either do that or install power to the car from the PC.
