Towing Capacity?
« on: November 30, 2018, 08:51:38 pm »
I can't find a PC document that indicates the towing capacity for my 2018 2910D.  I feel certain it's 5,000 lbs, but just want to make sure that's correct.

Thanks!

Mike

It might be written on the hitch. My 2012 3100 is 5000#.

They come with a class 3 hitch which should have a 6,000 lb capacity but there is a label on the hitch itself that will give you the exact number.

Just be very careful......just because the hitch is rated for 5000 lbs does not mean you can tow that much if the GCW of the vehicle is exceeded.

My 'PC Document'  was a sheet on the back of the under sink cabinet in the kitchen. The GCWR is listed as 18,500. The GVWR of the camper is 11,500, so that leaves 7000 pounds for towing... (Mine is a 2350 on a E350 chassis)

BUT.. the hitch says 5000 pounds max, or 6000 pounds with weight distributing.  Lower limits must be followed, so for a car or other simple hitch I am limited to 5K pounds.

Yours is on a E450 chassis, and longer/heavier, so the numbers will be different.

Check out this weight chart and scale slip from Jam4Travel posted  - https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/ebff9f95-bebd-488c-866b-db73e61be264/downloads/1cti5kqu4_834761.pdf

Shows you with a 14,500 GVWR and 22,000 GCWR,

My 3100 was 5000 pounds, I would expect the 2910 to be the same.
