AGM Batteries installed
« on: October 31, 2018, 08:07:14 am »
I went for service 3 weeks ago when  the PC gathering was cancelled for hurricane watch. Well I had AGM batteries installed to replace service required regularly ordinary batteries.  Now to see what on earth kind of adjustments should be made. I thought I turned off the battery charger unit however when I arrived to check on things yesterday it was on and showing a reading again. Not sure what I need to do to operate with these new batteries.
I did locate the Owners Manual and from what it said, I thought the battery charger should be off. It did not mention this kind of battery at all. Guessing game. Any ideas would be appreciated. On the road again next week.
Regards

NO worries, the AGM batteries will not alter any system they are powering, nor do they need special care to use.

The only thing that should be done is to see if there is a 'charging profile' for AGM batteries on the charger. AGM, GEL and FLA (Flooded Lead Acid - the ones you had before) all require different ways to charge and maintain their charge. If there is a manual for your converter/charger it should show how to switch charging modes. My old 2350 (a 2006) doesnt have all the fancy gear the new ones do, so I cant be much specific help. But some of the newer owners here should be more help.  :-D

Thanks for your insight. I did go see how things are later this afternoon. I bring it home sat and plug it in to prepare for a trip. When I get to the books I will look for the one on the 1800 and see what I can learn. Thank You so much. Regards.

I have rv home plugged into 50 amp and batteries had lost some charge. I will be working on this situation and see what it is going to take to keep batteries charged so they are usful when time comes to move. Thanks for all the advice.
