Wood floor repair

Any one ever repair a ding in their "wood" floor? How?
I have a spot about the size of a quarter on my "wood" floor where something must have hit it and removed the veneer. Not a world ending experience, but is unsightly when you know it's there. I'm more afraid that the softer particle will wear faster than the harder exterior and lead to a bigger issue.
Any way, how do I fix it? Use something to seal it would be my guess, and then work on the color matching part of the problem after that.
If no one can help I might call Mr. Don Ponzler, he's always been very helpful in the past.
Jack is what we call our PC 2351D, and he has taken us from campers to RV'ers and loving it. We're no longer Team Bob. Just Jack the RV!
