A couple of easy enhancements
« on: October 23, 2018, 06:57:21 pm »
Two items we had to add to our RV that we had in the previous are a shelf over the door and hooks for coats and jackets.
The shelf over the door is very handy for placing small items like a flashlight, leash for the pup, and possibly keys.  It is only 27" x 4", but man is it handy.  Just one board, 4" x 27.5" x 0.5", a trim piece on the front, and some rubberized shelf liner to prevent rattles while travelling.
We like to travel in cool weather.  The hooks provide an easy location to store our jackets and coats.  It keeps them from piling up on the Euro chair.

The shelf over the door is a great idea.

What a couple of great ideas, thanks for posting!  What did you use to mount them?  I didn't realize the PC walls were strong enough to hold up a coat rack like that.  We love the cooler weather too and have found, in our limited experience, jacket piles on the Euro chair.

Thanks again!

Our driver seat doesn't rotate so it's the catch all. Day pack sits on the seat, coats drape over the back and extra beer tucks in on the floor.

Thanks Gary.  For the coat rack, I just used 3 screws that are 1.25 inches long.  It seems real stable . . . I think it will last the test of time.  For the shelf over the door, the weight rest on the existing door valance.  I just used one screw to keep the shelf from moving.

It appears that you used a 3/4" thick board for the coat rack.  Am I right?

To be exact, it is 9/16 of an inch.  I bought a board at Menards that I am using for multiple projects.  It is maple with dimensions of 3 1/4"  x  9/16"  x 7'2".  If you have a Menards near by, the part number is 417-9101.
