Diamond Shield and Ziebart Products are they Worth the Cost?

I'm debating whether to have the following applied to my new P.C. 3100:

1)  Diamond Shield on the front cap, side wings, and part of hood.
2)  Ziebart Paint protection.
3)  Ziebart cab undercoating.
4)  Ziebart cab door window tint.

Please share your opinion and/or experience with any or all of these products.

3) Definitely NO.  I had it on a previous RV and VERY MUCH hated it.  The product did much more harm than good.  I do NOT endorse any undercoating product.

I had the first generation 3M film on my 2001 motorhome.   It was fine for a while and then cracked and yellowed.  It was awful.  My wife and I removed it with plastic chisels and a heat gun.  Working on it for 3-4 hours a day, it took us a week to remove it.  You will see a few ads in FMCA and Motorhome magazines for companies that will remove it.

When we toured the Tiffin plant in Red Bay, AL, we watched a tech installing the film on a new unit.  I asked him about it and he said it was much improved and problem free.  I'm under the impression that 3M is no longer used.

We opted for the Diamond Shield and am happy with it so far. Full disclosure - only 5300 miles. The placement of the shield also includes around the three door keyways, the front surface of outside mirrors and by the fuel filler door, It has a lifetime warranty that I hope to never use.

I had quite a few bug splatters on the shield that came off with soap and water. Then gave the whole thing a coat of wax (double coat on hood and cap) to give more protection.

Our 2007 Diamond Shield has some tiny yellow stains from bug juice from a particular bug species.  It's not horrid, but they exist and I cannot remove them.  Our gray exterior color does not hide them like a tan exterior like Time Aweigh shows in his signature.  The tiny stains would be a perfect match in his case, blending in so well that he would never notice them.

Diamond Shield has a life span of about 4 years ... and depending on how hot the sun is where you are may be shorter. We had this on the front end of our Allegro Bus we traded in. Jim started the removal and it is a bear to do and he is good at technical things and had a specific product that did assist the removal. However when finished we did have it completely repainted. So the trade in looked beautiful. It doesn't matter whose brand name it has problems will dry out, crack and make your unit look old. So if you are keeping it indoors it might last better.

Good luck. There are other things that serve the traveler better, leveling jacks and the front end stabilizer. Regards, Henry J/Patricia
