I had the first generation 3M film on my 2001 motorhome. It was fine for a while and then cracked and yellowed. It was awful. My wife and I removed it with plastic chisels and a heat gun. Working on it for 3-4 hours a day, it took us a week to remove it. You will see a few ads in FMCA and Motorhome magazines for companies that will remove it.
When we toured the Tiffin plant in Red Bay, AL, we watched a tech installing the film on a new unit. I asked him about it and he said it was much improved and problem free. I'm under the impression that 3M is no longer used.
