We spent last weekend (Fri-Mon) at Buccaneer State Park on the Mississippi Gulf Coast at Waveland. It is a really pretty campground! Full hookups in most loops, Clean shower houses. Big playground for kids. 18 hole disc golf course. There is a loop directly across Beach Blvd from the water however it is totally exposed to sun and wind. We stayed in Treasure Cove loop and all the sites are shaded, with sturdy picnic tables and most had concrete fire pits. The camping crowd was very courteous, no loud music, lots of kids and pets. The park has a wave pool and water slide that opens Memorial Day. $30/night. Most sites are back in which easily swallowed the 35'-40' 5th wheels parked there. As a state park, open alcohol is prohibited but beer cans in koozies at your site were no problem. There is a railroad track with 5-6 trains daily on the north side of the park, no whistles though just rumble. The track is important to remember if you have low clearance on your rig. Take Lakeshore Road off Hwy 90 for a track crossing that is level. Lakeshore Rd is marked by the signs for the Silver Slipper Casino. Hurricane Katrina leveled this park 13 years ago so everything there is relatively new. I did not go in to the small camp store so cannot report on it. Shaggy's in Pass Christian to the east is a good place for lunch.
We will definitely go back!
