Took delivery today
« on: April 02, 2018, 08:45:04 pm »
I took delivery of my new 2552 today.  The new sales manager, Barry, did his first walk-through with us.  He missed a few things and clearly was not as familiar with the product as Earl or those of you longtimers on the forum, but did his best and called on the production manager as needed.

We came to Elkhart campground to give it the once and twice over.  A few little issues on the outside.  Biggest issues are the microwave shuts down/loses power intermittently and the engine races for an unusually longtime when stepping on the gas.  We will be going back to the factory tomorrow to get issues addressed.

Everyone was quite friendly, but found Keith, in finance, habit of chewing tobacco during paperwork less than customer friendly.  We did get a nice tour of the factory and saw a new prototype built on a Ford Transit chassis.  Will provide a complete list of fixes later.  My class A parents are very impressed with quality of coach.

That would make Irene and me uncomfortable.  I hope they clean up that customer service issue.

Congratulations Erin on your new PC!

Congrats , and have a wonderful time enjoying your new baby!

Was the Transit prototype that you spied 👀 a class B van conversion like the Winnebago Paseo, or a cutaway chassis with a wide body coach like the Winnebago Fuse??

Thank you for the review - we will be picking up in June so I'm very interested in delivery feedback (I'm sure many others are as well!).  I was wondering if a two day stay at the campground might be worth it just to be on the safe side?  Have a safe trip home in you new RV!

We'll be picking ours up next week. I had a lot of questions for Earl, sounds like some will go unanswered. Seems like the owners weren't prepared for Earl's departure. Earl must of quit unexpectedly.

Congratulations Erin!  :)(:
We hope the "issues" you have are minor and can be addressed quickly.
Hope you enjoy many years of safe travels in your new coach.
Any suggestions that you share here will come in handy, as we will be picking up ours in early June.

We were at Phoenix in the fall of 2016 and a Fuse cut-away was sitting in the corner.  It has been there for some time prior.  I understand Kermit is still there (for a while as part of the sale of Phoenix) and has been using it for development purposes.  I don't know if he is trying to build a conventional PC on it, or using a totally new construction concept.  But it surely was a cut-away Fuse.

In the fall of 2016, it was not a complete Transit motor home, just a chassis without a house on it's back.  I wonder what the chassis looks like today.

It was a cutaway, much like 2100.  They haven’t found a floor plan they like.  No slide out.

Staying in Elkhart Campground has been a good choice for us.  I would recommend it to anyone taking delivery.  Dave, GM, has been very accomodating.  He arrives at 7am and has been avail able at that time.

Issues I had included:
Minor paint chips, that were corrected.
Issues with messy clauk - resolved
Storage bin latches needed adjustment
Bathroom door trim needed to be attached - done
Stovetop cover needed to be adjusted - done x2 before it sat flush
Racing engine with acceleration- if continues to be a problem I will need to take into Ford dealer, Bobby did offer to bring a Ford technician to them, but the unit only had 50 miles on it, so may just be a new engine issue.
Microwave was shutting off on own and as were a few of the outlets.  The factory could not recreate it, but as we talked they suggested I consider turning off the surge protector and try again.  It worked great.  Bobby thought it might be high or low voltage at the campground.

Bobby installed a paper bar as requested.

The weather has offered us a great opportunity to leak test the coach, lots of heavy rain today.

That makes sense.  Kermit has to watch every pound on a Transit.  It is unfortunate Ford could not come up with another 1200 pounds for that chassis. to compete better with the Sprinter.

I got a nice follow-up call from GM, Dave, this AM asking if we found any additional concerns overnight.  Heavy rains, big winds and snow gave it a good leak test last night.  Happy to say none were found.  I told Dave that no immediate concerns came up overnight, and he inquired about travel plans.  I told him we would head home on Thursday AM.  He thoughtfully told me that he would be available if we needed anything before we left.  Have received excellent customer service all week.

Got home with new coach yesterday.  It drove great, but when we got home we noticed that the bathroom door header had separated from the ceiling.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I have notified Barry and Dave and waiting for a response.

That's what the protector is there for. Watch your voltage on the surge protector readout when you turn on the microwave. If the campground did not install the correct size wiring the voltage will drop too low, possibly harming your microwave or refrigerator.

Most likely cause is your hot water heater, it pulls a lot of amps. I turn mine off before I run the microwave or turn on the propane heater instead.
