Diamond Shield

We just got back from the Phoenix plant where the folks a the Elkhart Diamond Shield office just replaced the coverings on the hood, mirrors and cap.  No charge!  Lifetime warranty.

How old is the Shield film? Hood and mirrors 2013.  Cap 2012.  Coach? 53,000 miles at this moment.

The reason for replacement?  Dark blotches getting ever larger around places where bugs had penetrated the film on impact.  We live in South Florida so possibly fungus and mold got in that way and were living off bug juice. It was impossible to do anything to remove the blotches.

At the FMCA Indianapolis rally last week I asked the Diamond Shield home office reps if there was something that could be done.  They visited our coach to see the blotches , checked our warranty status, said yes they could help and arranged to replace the blotchy film when we visited the mother ship in Elkhart.

I truly did not expect anything but getting new film without the bug holes.  The blotches I thought were in the paint finish and hoped they could buff them out and do some retouch work.  This morning after the old film was removed, I was astounded to see that the paint was perfect!  Not a hint of a mark. Now,with the new film installed, everything looks like new. 

This is an amazing testament to the value Phoenix adds to our coaches by protecting them with Diamond Shield films.

So far our Diamond Shield is holding up real well, but it's not much exposed to the elements either.

This is the statement made on the current main PC website under Features - Construction.  "Diamond Shield installed on critical areas on painted surfaces."

Diamond shield begins to crack and dry Out in about 3 -4 years and it will need to be removed which is expensive and hard to do. Took Mr 2 weeks to remove from our class A prior to trade in so the finish would look good. 3 M makes a better product which is similar but has shown better lasting  qualities but it costs more so you may need to buy a Prevost to get that as standard.

But if Diamond Shield has a lifetime warranty, no worry about that, right? Am within a few months of pulling the trigger and want to make sure I get, or don't get, the right options.

I recently looked at a 2010 PC and the DS had what looked like mold underneath the film. I just kept walking.

Some years ago there was a used PC with full body paint Morning Mist Gray like mine for sale with the Diamond Shield that looked burnt or charred, really strange looking.  It appeared the front of the rig was parked too close to a heat source of some kind.  The Diamond Shield was even cracked up in places.  I never seen anything like it before and never since.

My 2017 (picked up end of May) has the Nano Fusion Diamond Shield and a little sticker by the front passenger tire well saying  Lifetime Warranty. 

My 2017 from the end of March just says Diamond Shield.  sounds like anyone ordering needs to get a written commitment from Earl about what they are getting.  Certainly there was not discussion of different levels of Diamond shield to choose from.

But if Diamond Shield has a lifetime warranty, no worry about that, right? Am within a few months of pulling the trigger and want to make sure I get, or don't get, the right options.

That part is easy, when placing the order, simply ask to make sure that it IS still included.

I guess I don't understand why people don't make sure, in writung as part of the order, what is included and what is extra cost.  I mean, you're going to spend $100,000 and it's only common sense to insure you are getting what you think you're getting.  Don't assume anything.   Phoenix, Earl, Kyle and Kermit are exceptionally honest and I trust them 100%, it's just a matter of not making assumptions so everyone is happy with the transaction.

Let's not overlook all of the satisfied owners of Diamond Shield. There will likely be the unfortunate that have problems, especially in the RV community. Diamond Shield has a good reputation,  and I like think PC knows this and installs it to enhance their product.

My 2011 has 45k miles and the Diamond Shield is like new. Just wanted to add a little support of my good expierence with this product.

You make a great point.  How many Diamond Shield protected PCs are doing well with the product?  What would PCs look like without it?  Ours is looking mighty fine. 

Just remember. "Nano" means small. "Fusion" means explosion.

Also, when I got my PC, there was a lifetime warranty card in the "bag of manuals" that come with the PC

I have a 2010 2400 Sprinter, that has
discolored and mildewed Diamond Shield.
The rv looks dirty even after a bath.
 
Diamond Shield will remove and replace it
with a newer product-- at a cost--at
certain service locations.

If your PC is past their 3 year warranty and
the film is discolored, you may want to
contact them.

My PC lives in Florida.  It is under a carport,
but it is not a dry climate here. 😬
