Air conditioner vibration
« on: June 25, 2017, 08:57:42 pm »
Used my new 2552 for the first time this weekend. After the AC   has run for about six hours it started to vibrate with a minor vibration.  By the end of the day the vibration was bad enough that you could feel it throughout the whole coach. It blows cold and does it's job other than the vibration. Anybody have any suggestions

Definately call Kermit.  Probably loose hold down bolts.

To isolate the problem does it  vibrate only when the compressor runs? If it still vibrates after the MH temp. reaches  set point and the compressor shuts off it could be the circulation fan motor or its blades. If the vibration happens only when the compressor runs. It could be the rubber vibration dampeners that are on the hold down bolts. but the worst case could be the springs that suspend the motor inside the can. If one loosens or breaks the motor tips enough to touch the sealed case and will transfer a bad and noisy vibration through the whole unit. If it is the latter the compressor will have to be replaced.

My brother had the same thing with his Starflyte motor home.  The hold-down bolts became loose.  Once tightened up, the a/c unit quieted down to the normal amount of extremely loud noise.

It seems to me that tightening them could be a very easy thing to do.  As others mentioned, call Kermit.  He might be able to verbally walk you through the process so you don't breaking something along the way.

Pull the cover off the inside this morning tightened up the three bolts that hold it in seems to have cured the vibration problem. We'll see if it keeps it  smooth without loosening up again
