Borg DuallyValve valve stems
« on: June 06, 2017, 01:22:49 pm »
I replaced the valve stems and extensions on our 2552 with Borg Duallyvalve stems because I had damaged one of the original extension mounts. I drove a little too close to the edge of the road in Yosemite and something pulled the L-bracket that holds the end of the extension off of its rivets. I ordered a set of Duallyvalves from http://www.yourtireshopsupply.com, which is Borg's web site, for $120. I had my local tire shop install the stems. Below is a picture of the stems installed on the wheel (I hope).

The tire guy had a lot of trouble getting the wheels off the axel; they were rusted on. He had to use what he called "Love". I think that involved a hammer.

These stems work much better than the old extensions with my pressure gauge/filler.

Borg also sells stems for the front wheels, if you're interested.

Yes I installed a Tire Minder system on these valve stems but I haven't driven with them yet. If I find any problems, I'll post them here. I don't expect any problems because these new stems are very similar to the ones on the front wheels, which do not give me problems.

I installed TST (Truck System Technologies) TPMS on my Borg valves last year and have put about 4,000 miles on them and they have worked well.  I was not able to satisfactorily install the TPMS on the factory installed flexible extensions.  I also had issues using my pressure gauge and Vair compressor fitting on the valve extensions.

I also had issues with the TST sensors and the flexible extensions so 2,000 miles ago I replaced the extensions with better extensions. In addition, I purchased the Tire Minder system from Camping World. What a difference!  The TM package is a breeze to install, to calibrate, and to use. I simply have the TM application open on my iPhone and it tells me if anything is amiss. We tow a car, with sensors, so I have 10 of them going and I remain relaxed  :).      --Stu

RheaNL:  if your question was directed to me, I have the "Smart TPMS" by Tire Minder. Bought it at Camping World which was cheaper than factory-direct. The system works with iPhone or Android. I've used two other systems and this one beats the others. It's a breeze to set up.    --Stu

Thanks Stu. I guess I was a little vague. I was actually wondering which Duallyvalve kit the original poster purchased.

Nicki,

When we put the Borg stems on our 2012 2551 back in April of 2015 we had to order Kit # DL1SSTC.

I called Borg Equipment & Supply Co. and spoke with Bill (818-352-3017).  He was very helpful in determining the correct kit to order for our unit.   He had me measure the handholds on the steel wheel and determined that we needed to order Kit # DL1SSTC.  I had a local tire company install them and to this day am very pleased with the results.

I purchased the DL1FC kit for Ford 2008 to present. Older Fords with 2 inch round holes use DL1EC, while pre 1997 Fords with oval holes use DL1SSTC. Go to www.yourtireshopsupply.com and click on "Ford, GM, Dodge" in the Category box on the left side. Click on DL1FC in the Best Sellers box on the left side. Page down and click on the Files tab then click on "Download The File" next to What Duallyvalve Kit Do I Need? (272.51 kB).

Do the borg valve stems extend enough to gain access , add air etc with the wheel covers on? I can’t quite tell by the picture.
