Tire pressure monitoring system

I have a new 2552 ordered should be here in a couple weeks. When I looked at one of the new ones it appeared as though I may not be able to put my TPMS sensors on the valve stem's.  The Stems which had a spring attached to them to hold them in place didn't seem to line up with the holes and leave room to put the TPMS sensors on. Has anybody had any problems with their TPMS?

I tried using TST tire pressure sensors on the braided stainless steel extensions provided by PC without any success.  For some reason the valves in the braided extensions were not compatible with the sensors.  I even had difficulty using hand held gauges and putting air in the tires.

I did away with the rear wheel valve extensions by having one piece Borg brand valves installed on all rear tires.  After this valve replacement all previous problems with checking, airing up, and using the remote sensors went away.  The sensors provide a higher level of confidence by knowing the tire pressure is within an acceptable range and if some issues are developing that causes an increase in tire temperature.  While this pressure system probably has little benefit in preventing near instantaneous blowouts caused by road debris it can give one early warning if the pressure starts to decrease or temperature unexplainably starts to increase.

Perhaps the new Phoenix models don't have the same valves and extensions as my unit but if so and you encounter the same problems as I did there is a relatively simple though not inexpensive fix.

This is probably a dumb question, but aren't all new vehicles since 2007 factory equipped with TPMS?  Obviously its needed for a toad, but not sure I understand why it would be necessary for the Cruiser.

Our 2012 Sprinter has factory tpms but we prefer our Tire Traker tpms with digital psi and temp information rather than just a light that appears.   :)(:

Only cars and pickups.  The E series cutaways don't come with TPMS built in.  Mine is a built in August E-450 cutaway that Phoenix turned into our 2015 model 2551.

The 2017 E series manual mentions TPMS but lists them as "if installed".  I gather they are an add on extra.  I checked with Phoenix and they do not order them on the chassis they use.  Seems like you could, if desired, order a new chassis with them but that might delay delivery even longer.  And in this case if the OP is only weeks from delivery, no longer an option.

We are on the road headed toward Houston with two slow leaking dually tires as a result of a bungled valve extension job by an allegedly reputable fleet shop. I asked for solid metal extensions and got braided steel ones.  Needless to say those were not paid for. We are stopping at PPL RV in Houston to have either Borg or Wheel Master valves installed (not sure what they have in stock).  Then our Tire Traker TPMS should be happy...I know I will! 2o2.   :)(:

Make SURE the schrader valve core is in tight.  Any bicycle valve tool (at Walmart for $3) will work.   Also, the the extensions are tightly on the valve stems.

When you put on the solid valve stems, again... Make sure the schrader valve cores in them are tight.

The only problem I have ever had with valve extensions (braided steel) is a loose schrader core.  Came that way from the factory.

Thanks Don. I have had the Schrader valve tool in my tool box for years. As for the new extensions, I'm having them done properly at PPL Houston since my infirmaties keep me away from most things mechanical. I'm thinking of mailing the braided things back to the so called fleet repair shop that put them on with succinct instructions.  :)(:

We like Tire Traker TPMS. Can't put a link since I'm using my iPhone but it is highly recommended by some respected fulltimer gurus.  :)(:
