Pre-purchase PC inspections
« on: February 09, 2017, 06:38:18 pm »
Has anyone used an outside RV pre-purchase inspection service when buying a used PC directly from Phoenix Cruiser?

I would not think there is much of a need buying from Earl and the crew.

I cannot answer your question directly but I can tell you I have checked out some locally "for sale" rigs for folks far away that found something online for sale near me.   These were people I had "met" on the forums and were mostly Bs.   I would have them call the owner and make arrangements for me to call him so he/she would know I was legitimate and I would drive over to the unit, check it out, take pictures and email my findings back to the interested party.

I have only done this for people after talking to them on the phone and determining they were not tire kicking, because sometimes the rigs were fifty miles away.  I enjoyed doing that and helping out a fellow traveler.......after I made sure everyone was on the up and up about the deal.

I see that the OP is in Anacortes and that is a "fer spell" of distance from Elkhart.  Maybe some PC owner near the factory could help you??

Paul----great idea.  Never thought about that.  Yes Anacortes WA is about as far away from Elkhart as you
can get.  To date the majority of used PC's seem to be east of the Mississippi or in southern CA.  So its either
2300+ miles or 1400 miles.

Thanks

What kind, if any, of warranty does Phoenix provide on used units?

I do know on new units, you don't have to bring the coach back to Elkhart for warranty work.   You call or email Kermit, he approves X amount of money, you get the work done locally and pay for it, send Kermit the invoice and Phoenix sends you a check within a business day of receipt.

Phoenix is very flexible and generous on warranty work.

Ive talked to Earl about several used PC's.  His response was the used are sold "as is". No warranty. The exception would be any remaining PC's or Ford warranties would be honored.

That said PC's "as is".....is, I think a bit different then a private sale or dealer.  Earl explained that they go through each
of the PC trade ins with a fine tooth comb.  Replacing or fixing anything that does not work.  Even adding options that were not part of the original sale.

It would seem that there would be no need to spend time or money on an outside pre-purchase inspection if all
this really happens.

I am not speaking for Phoenix, but I feel they can be trusted to properly inspect the used units they sell, whether PCs or other brands.  In-fact, I am going out on a limb to say that it is a good idea to shake down overnight near the factory, any used purchase from Phoenix, to make sure it is in as good of order as advertised.  If anything isn't as advertised, I assume they will make it right (within reason of coarse) the next work day.

We were very satisfied with the 10 year old unit we bought from PC's lot.  Like-new clean, everything worked as it should.    Spent the night in the PC parking lot with a tank of water and
30 amp hook-up,  testing and familiarizing with everything.   Found no issues but they said we could stay another night if we wanted to keep trying !         I wouldn't bother with hiring an
inspection.     One thing about PC,  they take a lot of good photos,  plus the video of each unit.    We also drove it  extensively that night at the factory,  around Elkhart and nearby towns,
great for  peace of mind.

I would also agree with the others in "trusting"  Earl,  Kyle and the whole PC team.   They are, in my opinion, the MOST honest and straight forward vehicle dealer/manufacturer I have EVER dealt with.. bar none!

Thanks all for the very positive feedback.  The Sunday I talked to Earl "puttering" in his home workshop I
thought really Sunday, theres got to be something different here!
