LED Light TV Interference
« on: January 08, 2017, 08:42:57 am »
We have not used our TV very much other than to watch DVD since we picked up our PC last summer.  Yesterday I was looking for local weather stations and went through the scan to find available channels and found what I was looking for.  Last night I turned the TV on but the channel I had watched earlier was not available.  I went through the scan process again and noticed a number of channels that I had picked up earlier were not available.

I recalled reading of issues related to cheap poorly designed LED bulbs causing electromagnetic interference with TV and radio signals.  I then turned off all LED bulbs and went through the rescan and was able to pickup all the channels that I found during the day. To test my LED interference problem I selected the weather channel and then switched on one LED.  Instantly the picture scrambled and was lost.

Has anyone experienced similar interference problems?  I expect replacing the bulbs with properly designed bulbs would solve the problem.  Are there other options to eliminate this interference?

We've had a similar situation with our TV, but have no LED bulbs that we're aware of.    Was wondering what caused it,  and now maybe have an answer,  need to check around
closely !

Having read this on another forum, it's second hand info.  Poster had same problem with led lights interfering with tv, but it was only one light.  Other led lights had no affect.  You might want to determine if all lights interfere or just one problematic one.

I checked the various lights as you suggested.  The two small reading spot lights above the sofa do not appear to create the interference problems.  However it appears all the other LED lights in the front of the coach within about 12 feet of the TV create issues with some of the channels.  The bedroom and bathroom lights do not have any noticeable impact.  Based on this it appears though not 100% conclusive that proximity rather than individual bulb differences are creating the problem.  Thanks for the suggestion it was worth a try.

I may have to contact Kermit for a solution but i was hoping for an easy fix without bothering him.
