wood grain veneer sagging over speedometer

wood grain veneer sagging over speedometer

Hi,  new to the forum and all it's helpfulness,  having purchased a 2006 2700 model last spring.
Has anyone had their  wood grain veneer over the speedometer sag quite noticeably in hot  (  80 + )  weather  ?
In cooler temps it seems to be tight against the ' ceiling '  of the instrument cluster.    Obviously it must be unatttatched
there.   Any ideas  for  reattatching  ?        Don't want to use the wrong thing and end up with a bigger problem.
At times can hardly see the speed we're " cruising "  at.

Hi Jim,

I suggest calling Phoenix directly and ask them your question.  I suspect your wood grain is held in place with a specific two-face tape, and it has failed.  The factory will be able to provide specific instruction on removing the wood grain and how to reinstall it.  You should also be able to purchase the proper two-face tape from Phoenix at a very reasonable price.  Phoenix's phone number is 574-266-2020.

Ron,   thanks for your suggestion.     I didn't know Phoenix  was involved with the dash  set-up,  assumed it was Ford.

Yeh, the wood grain is added by Phoenix.  The picture here shows how they receive the chassis from Ford....plain black plastic dash.

You can double check with Earl or Kermit but I'm pretty sure the dash kits have adhesive pre-applied and come on a backer-board/liner.  The piece is peeled off the liner and placed on a cleaned dash.  I had a small portion that was 'loose' and I just took a hair dryer to it for a minute or so.  Problem solved.

This site sells dash kits for the E450 (very cool) and also describes the installation procedures, adhesives used, troubleshooting, etc.  It wouldn't surprise me if most products out there were the same.  This one uses 3M 5849 Primerless adhesive.

It should still be 100% under warranty.   Let Kermit know, he can suggest how to get it fixed on Phoenix's dime.   They are VERY quick at repaying you if you pay a shop to repair as long as you contact Jermit FIRST!

Good idea Ron,    I have the  maple  trim and assume it's still available if needed and would match the console.     I don't see too many  2700's  listed  here on the forum.
When my wife saw it  on Earl and Kermit's friendly used RV lot this spring,  she went nuts and had to have it.     It looks and runs like new and  gave us great service this
past summer.   Now I have to get busy this spring and check out the things that have been  written about on these pages concerning preventative maintenance,  etc.
