Soft spot for strays?

Soft spot for strays?

My wife and I have always seemed to collect strays.  Not to excess really but we have rarely gone and looked for a 'pet', mostly they have found us.  I think 4 cats and 2 dogs was our max and we are at 1 dog and 2 cats at the moment.  Anyway, it's not like we are saving the world but we do have a soft spot for a critter just looking for a good home.

Anyway, about 4 times a week we drive past our local RV dealer.  And sitting in the front lot since August I think is a Phoenix Cruiser 2400.  We even went so far as to stop in and ask about it, but oddly that day it was missing from the lot and neither the salesperson nor his manager could tell us where it was.  But a week later it was back, and we did stop in and take a tour.  In great shape considering it is 2010 model, but by that time we had a visit to the factory scheduled and have now ordered a 2552.

But every time we drive past that poor stray is sitting there in the lot.  Front and center and right by the road.  So sad, just looking for a loving owner who will take it home and give it the care and attention it deserves.  So far we have resisted, but I feel so bad driving past...............  I don't have any room I say, the only spot in the driveway is reserved for a new 2552.  But it looks so sad..........

Surely someone wants a stray that I know will be loyal and loving?

Giving the dealer name might help it find a new home. All we can tell is that it is somewhere in the Oregon Mountains based on your profile location. If it when away for a week or so, they might of used it to go the dealer RV show in Louisville, Ky.

We can appreciate how you feel, jatrax since we have been really looking for a PC2400.  The difficulty with the one you are talking about is that while there are a couple of PC2400 Sprinters on sites like RVTrader and RVUSA for $59,900 or so, when I emailed this dealer, he was pretty firm at $70,000 or so.  And, as posted elsewhere on the PC Forum, we wanted a slightly newer model with the expanded galley.  But hopefully, someone will come along and make the dealer an offer he can't refuse (exactly).  Here's hoping. . . :)(:

Hi 2HIAC,

Keep in-mind that most or all 2010 PCs on Sprinters are built on a 2008 Sprinter chassis and were sold to the general public at the same price as the 2010 Ford E350.  So "theoretically" you should pay that much less for a 2010 PC Sprinter model 2350 or 2400.  The indicator is to ask for the model year of the Sprinter chassis.  This might not be much of an argument when working with a dealership, but who knows, maybe it is.  If working a deal with the original owner, you are that much smarter about the price he actually paid.

I don't know the differences between a 2008 and a 2010 Sprinter chassis.  I would research it to determine if the differences mean anything to you.  If I was considering a 2010 PC Sprinter built on a 2008 chassis, it wouldn't bother me one bit, though I would hope to make a better deal because of it.  If you know me at all, I am a bargain hunter.

Well, I did not want this to seem like a "for sale" post.  I've no involvement in this other than feeling sad about a stray  :)  And some forums prohibit for sale posts.

Anyway, the dealer is Johnson RV in Sandy, Oregon.  I know little about them except we drive by all the time.  We did look at LTV units there but ended up with PC instead.  As noted above they might have this unit priced too high, I've no idea.  They seem to operate on a "we are not sales people" sales model.  I've been there 5 times and no one has tried to sell me anything yet.  Which is too bad for them because a good salesperson likely could have sold me an LTV unit back a few months before we found Phoenix with a little more research.

I asked about the 2400 twice and on the third stop finally got a tour of it.  But never once did they mention a price or try to sell me.

I do hope they are a good dealer, at least for service as they are by far the most conveniently located dealer for me if I need any work done on my PC.
