Researching Our First Motor Home
« on: September 06, 2016, 10:34:28 am »
Good Day Phoenix Cruiser Owners,

My wife and I are doing research for our first motor home and I've narrowed it down to three manufacturers at this time, Phoenix Cruiser is at the top of my list based on what I've seen online. We are interested in the 2910T, we live in southern CA and I'd love to see one before making a trip to Indiana. I've checked with Earl and no one in southern CA owns a 2910T. I know this is a crazy ask, but if anyone is planning a trip to southern CA that has a 2910T, 2910D or 3100 and you would be willing to show your Cruiser we would love to make the trip to where you are staying to meet and talk with you about your experiences with Phoenix Cruiser and your RV.

Thanks You,

Dan

Just to let you know...In October beginning the 19th to 22nd there will be 2 2910T's and 1 3100 camping together at Brunswick, Ga  RV park with the FMCA group the Tailgators.  a Florida group venturing out of Florida to begin the winter camp season.

P S We have moved from a Tiffin Allegro Bus class A 41 ft to the 2910T and find it is amazing how much junk we were carrying that never got used.  Now it is sitting  here and there. And Mr had not even filled the outside bins on the new PC . The bedroom is tight but we are adjusting. And there is more space for stuff than we guessed at a glance. We love the move smaller.  And it really just had to have a nice sofa for the dog. Miss Elle loves her sofa with a big window for keeping an eye on things. The adjustment has gone better than we could imagine.  And it is less of a challenge to park and can be turned around in places not possible before.  Patricia

Dan,
We'll be in Palm Desert, CA with our 2013 PC2552 for five months starting in early November.  Let us know if that place and time would work for you to see our rig.

I don't think the triple slide option offers much except extra weight and cost. I had a 2910D and there was plenty of space for our needs. We lived in it for four months straight with no problems. Since this will be your first RV purchase, it is important to keep weight under control, especially if you are towing a vehicle. Many people pack up the toad but it does count even though it is said that only tongue weight counts. This unit is not a diesel so it will be limited and hill climbing can be slow. Good luck and welcome soon to the RV nation!!

John,

Good advice. My wife is concerned about not having a dinette, but more than anything I worrying about cargo carrying capacity. The more research I do on the class C's (and B+) the more I realize that the big units can't carry much cargo. It's also hard to get a good solid answer on CCC from the manufactures (even Phoenix Cruiser). I suspect on the 2910T it would not take much cargo to hit maximum load.

I really need to see a 2910D in person before I can make the right decision. My hope is they will be building one and I can make a trip to the factory at the end of the build to see one in person.

Thank you.

Dan

Our first PC was a 2910T because we wanted the dinette and the opposing slides up front to give us more room when parked. We were downsizing from a 41' Class A and thought we needed the queen bed in the third slide since this was the configuration we were used to. We did not physically see a 2910T, but did walk through a 2910D at the Hershey RV show where we placed our order.

Three months later we picked up our PC at the factory and drove it back to New Hampshire (approx. 1000 miles). By the end of that trip we decided that the 2910T was not what we wanted for the following reasons; the bedroom was tight to us because we were used to "walk around space" and getting in and out of the bed was difficult for me since I have back issues. I found that the unit was more difficult to level because of the weight of the two slides on the drivers side and only one slide on the passenger side.

"And now for the rest of the story" - I called Phoenix and discussed my issues and ask about options. As it turned out Phoenix had a buyer who wanted a 2910T so we made a deal to swap out our new/used PC for a 2910 with the front (from the bath forward) built like the 2910T with the dinette and couch slides. The rear bedroom area has two twin beds just like the 3100. This gave us extra overhead storage space, easy access to the fresh water tank and water pump which are located under one of the beds. There is extra storage under the other bed.

After three years and over 36000 miles we still love this design. This is just another example of how Phoenix Cruiser works to insure complete customer satisfaction.
