Music while traveling options

Music while traveling options

Our radio is not new enough for Sirius.  There are no jacks to plug in an iPod.  I love music.  We can play the bluetooth iPod now with the DVD/Blue Ray player.  Does it work on the inverter while traveling without the generator working?

Also, if you use the inverter that much, does it wear down the batteries?  House??

Hi Barb,
Not a direct answer to your question but our 2350 like yours also lacked an aux plug.  We enjoy audiobooks while traveling so purchased a wireless blue tooth speaker which we could use with our iPad.  We found both the sound quality and volume met our needs.

Ours runs off the house batteries/inverter and doesn't use that much juice to worry about.  But like Bob said a wireless Bluetooth speaker is probably an excellent option.  There are soooo many different types and price ranges available now (Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, Walmart, etc) and the nice part is that it would be portable, allowing you to listen to music or books while in the shower, at the beach or hanging out under your awning.  The newer varieties allow you to use just one speaker, or if you buy another speaker it will pair with the original and provide better stereo.

Barb, I think you will find that using the inverter going down the road will be just fine.  Your engine will be charging (or maintaining) your coach batteries and therefore you will not run them down one bit.  Turn on the inverter (assuming it is similar to ours), note the indicated DC voltage input, then start the engine and watch the voltage jump a bit, thus indicating a charge rate.  Some motorhomes don't have generators and the owners use the engine to recharge their coach batteries as a matter of normal operation.

Barb,

The chassis (truck/van) battery does NOT get charged when hooked up to shore power and not when the generator is running.  The only way it charges is when the main engine alternator is spinning.

When parked for a month or longer without ever starting the engine, I like to disconnect the chassis battery.

That's good to know I think will use a battery tender and I'm not sure what my husband does. He does however start everything up once a month. He's very methodical about this
