Cleaning exterior of PC

Cleaning exterior of PC

Just curious how people clean the upper front of your PC.  I can't reach that area even with a ladder.  Thanks for your ideas!

I have a telescoping windshield cleaning pole that I purchased at our local RV dealer , one of the brushes that it came with has a plastic  sponge type surface that a microfiber cloth sticks to very well. With this I am able to reach all the upper areas for cleaning and its sturdy enough that it does a very good job.  I haven't tried it for waxing  yet. On our 2350 I used the belly method of hanging over the top to wax, not sure iam still up to that. Read on a forum someplace, maybe here, about using a youngster, hold his feet  and give them a rag and can of wax. My grandson would be up for it, but my daughter would probably never leave me alone with him again.

I use a simple windshield cleaning device (can use various length handles depending on how far up the roof I wish to reach).  I first scrub the area with water (or some dry wash product) to loosen the dirt and bugs, then drop a towel over the end of the device to clean and dry the area.  Sometimes two or three passes with this is needed to get the area looking good.
We have the entire rig washed and waxed by a professional once a year.

I use a "Telescopic Pole with All-About Wash Brush" that I bought at Camping World many years ago. It is way over priced now. You might want to check the paint dept. at your local home depot, Lowes, etc. for a painter extension pole. That a a good brush that screws on will work for you.

God made me with enough reach to work with my hands, but I do use a controversial process.  I place my large step ladder in a sweet spot on each side and wear my foam Crocks which work great to lightly rest my foot for balance, on the grill just below the windshield.  One thing certain, it's not easy.  My by-hand method using lots of soap and a netted-sponge gets all the bug juice off.  I had tried a couple of different pole-methods but can't get the same results.  I won't be able to clean the B+ cap this way for that much longer for when I am done I say....."I am getting too old for this".

I prefer to stay on the ground, not balancing between a ladder and the hood, especially when things are all wet and slippery.  Know I would fall on my dumb old head, for sure.  pyho

Maybe one day I will post that I am in a body cast from cleaning the B+ cap.....time to lower my expectations on bug removal.   roflol

Ron, you're a DIY type of guy. It's time to bolt some nice sturdy pulleys in that garage ceiling and strap into a climbing harness. With a little grace and style and you can fly like Peter Pan without putting your weight on the front of the Phoenix. We don't have a garage so we'll have to hunt for a really sturdy tree limb to pull it off. I'm not sure I trust John on belay for me but I could probably control the rope on my own... or recruit the granddaughter. She's been a zip line pro since she was about 4. The parents let us do it.

But you do have the gears in my head going again.  I am imagining a platform attached inside (or maybe outside) to the garage door frame.  Support the short end with long legs that hinge like a folding table for self-storage.  Come up with a quick-release method to the garage door frame for easy setup & take-down.

Just drive the PC up to it, put a ladder in front, get up on the platform and scrub off all them bugs.  A section of an old discarded Formica counter top would make a comfortable platform to slide around on.  No splinters and it wipes clean & dry too.

See Ron, there is always a solution. Yours would be more functional and graceful. If you build it, upload a picture for the rest of us. If anyone tries the Peter Pan routine, upload that one too.
