Half Body Paint

If purchasing a used (2-3 yrs) PC with half body paint what are the negatives?
Is it harder to clean?  What is the condition of the unit years later? Do the swirl designs hold up under sun and cold weather?   Any experiences appreciated.

Ron,
     We have have our 3100 go on 3 years, have had no problems with the decal or the paint. Now we store our baby in a barn when we don't use it. We got in April of 2013 and have 28000 miles on it.  Hope this will help

Ron,
We purchased our new half body paint 2552 in August 2013 and always store it outside.  We apply UV protection at least twice a year to the entire coach and it still looks as good as new.  We use and/or store it near Palm Springs, CA during the winter/spring months and near the mid-California coastline during most of the rest of the year.

Ron,
If the condition is good now you should not have any problems if you continue to to take care of it. Thoughorly clean and wax once a year minimum and preferably 2 times a year. Cold weather doesn't affect the paint much the sun is the killer (UV Rays). Keep it out of the direct sunlight as much as possible when you aren't using it. My Phoenix is full body paint, 6 years old , and shines like new. I say go for it.

Thank you for your replies.  What products do you find useful in waxing or applying UV protection?
Any experience or advantage to using a cover?

Regarding a cover....for us, the negatives outweighed the positives.  It is a real pain getting the thing on and off, for one.  But the worst part is that it flaps in the breeze, even when pretty tightly secured, and can make wear marks on the rig.  If not tightly secured it can come loose and cause a lot of problems in windy conditions, including flapping against the side of others rigs in storage (which doesn't make the neighbors happy at all). Indoor storage is obviously the best, but they are few and far between in my area.

We do use the tire covers when stored, or when camped for a significant period of time (or in direct intense sun). They are relatively easy to get on/off and aren't as prone to flapping around or loosening up.

another one of our mistakes. Living in Florida and not being able to store the rig under cover, we bought an Adco cover for our 2551 (now we have a 2910). It was expensive and we never put it on the rig. Too much hassle. Now we do not have it covered but we do put tire covers on and put plywood under the tires when we store it. We envy those who have their rigs garaged.

We use Mequiers Flagship Premium Marine Wax. It has UV protection in it. We also use 303 Aerospace Protectant on the tires and the Diamondshield. It was recommended by Diamondshield.

As durable as the unpainted gel coat fiberglass is, it will eventually get a chalky/flat finish which is impossible to restore and difficult to keep clean.  I learned that with our first motor home here.  It did take many years though.  Because we keep our RVs so long, 24 years with the Mirage, 9 so far with the PC, it is why we went with the full body paint on our PC.

I have always used 3M 09062 Marine Liquid Wax
After 11 years my first motorhome still looked new.
Easy to apply, do it twice a year.

Thank you for your feedback.  There are pros and cons to full body paint and half Body paint.  From you I learned the key for either is wether the PC is in covered storage or exposed to the elements. My former TT of 19 years was exposed and took quite a beating even with my best attempt to maintain it. 

I plan to purchase a PC/MH in about 2 years.  That gives me time to find storage.

I've always left mine outdoors no cover, all spring, summer & Fall. I use it in Florida in the winter. The wax is amazing.
