Owners willing to show their rigs?
« on: October 20, 2015, 07:34:26 pm »
Hi All,

I tried contacting Aimee with this question but never got a response.

I would be interested in being able to view a couple of PCs....specifically the 2552 and/or the 3100.  I thought I had read on the forum that you had started a list of owners that were willing to show their rigs, but I can't seem to locate any info on it now.  Is that still a viable option?

I'm in Pensacola, FL, and will be for the next couple of week or so, and would be interested in seeing if anyone in this area would willing to help me out.  I know that there is at least one person on the forum that is here in PCola with a 2552 but I didn't think it would be appropriate to contact them personally.

I started out over a year ago looking at PCs and decided that I just couldn't make it work for me, so I moved on......all the way up to class A's.  Almost pulled the trigger on 2 of them, but just couldn't do it.  So now I'm back down here looking at PCs, again.

Thanks for any help.

Marcia

Hi Marcia,
If you don't have any luck finding someone in or near Pensacola soon, maybe you could post where you will be over the next couple of months.  Someone's path may cross nearby.  Good luck!

Marcia,
I think you have to contact the factory to find a list of folks who are willing to show you their rigs. Owners get a gift (bird dog fee) if the looker later decides to buy a new unit.  By contacting the factory, they know who indeed showed their coaches.

I am in Pcola and would be happy to show you our 2552 today or tomorrow (Wed/Thurs) or the latter part of next week. Just shoot me a PM with your phone number.  Also do a google search on Florida Liquidators Pensacola located on Pensacola Blvd.  They had a 2350 parked out front but I haven't seen it in a couple of weeks.  However, they are constantly moving their inventory around so it may still be there.  I'm about 3 miles from them so maybe you could inspect 2 units back to back.  Mark

We will be in the panhandle for 3 or 4 months beginning the first of December.  We have a 2350 with slide that we are willing to show.

Steve,

Did you do the standard dinette or did you do one of the couches?

Thanks!

Jim,

Both the 2552 and the 2100 have the dinette.  The dinette in the 2552 is in the slide out instead of a couch.  Any other questions?

Steve,

Oh yeah... plenty of questions!   But I don't want to commandeer this thread for my personal benefit.  ;)  Soon, I'll begin a new thread with questions... and hope that you'll add some input.  In the meantime, thanks for offering to make your PC available for a walk-through.  You might be closer than Elkhart to me.

Thanks again!

Jim

Our 2552 is in Frederick MD and is normally available for people to see. It's temporarily buried in snow but will be out and about again before too long. If anyone is interested, just let us know.

Your dinette-size discussion is interesting.

I believe the larger slide out in the 2552 makes the dinette inside it much the same as our 2350 without a slide out.  The loss of the pantry is where the extra space comes from to make the dinette a practical size.

2travel, would you please drop down your backrest cushions, and measure from bench wall-to-wall to determine how long the bed conversion is?  Our 2350 no-slide-out dinette measures 71 inches, I think a good means of comparison.

And glad you bring that up, Ron!

I am now edging more towards the 2552 and would like a bit larger dinette even as I forgo the slide.  Was thinking I'd have to get a slide to get even a slightly larger dinette.

Jim
Whether you get a slide out or not, The space provided there in the 2552 and I believe also the 2351, is more than the 2350 and 2551.  If you seek a bigger dinette table which naturally comes with more leg room, I think it could be accomplished only by NOT getting a slide out, and NOT getting the extra pantry between dinette and fridge which would otherwise be there without a slide out.

The only issue I see with having a bigger dinette table with more leg room is when making it into a bed.  Using the standard seat and backrest cushions, you won't have enough to convert the dinette into a bed.  To resolve that, the factory would need to provide higher back rest cushions to make up the difference.  That does not sound as crazy as you might think.  I have seen on-line, a few high back dinettes in motor homes, and they don't look bad.

If I were to consider a longer dinette table & more leg room, I would look at the possibility of making tall, the backrest of the bench seat that is against the fridge, and leave the one behind the driver as-is to maintain the open feeling inside the rig.  The tall backrest may offer more comfort via head support when watching TV as well as when traveling.  It might be a favorite seat for a 3rd person traveling.  They face forward in better comfort, and enjoy the scenery better looking out the big dinette window.

I am not telling you what to do, rather just tossing out ideas inside my head here.

My 2552 has a dinette that goes down into a bed in the slide-out.
It measures 68", wall to wall and 36" wide.
If I did it again I would make it 38" or 40" wide to allow diagonal sleeping.
Lots of time we don't put out the slide-out when stopping overnight on the road and there is still plenty of room to work in the kitchen and eat.

No need for the sliding pantry as I had them make the closet next to microwave into a 3 shelf pantry. Holds all sorts of food, we did not need more space for clothes.

We had a 2551 with a couch in the slide-out and hated the small table. We need the eating space that remains set-up all the time and with two of us we didn't need another big bed.

As for showing our rig, we are in Florida for the whole winter and heading to W.P. Franklin near Fort Myers this weekend to stay for 2 weeks.
