Towing lights not working
« on: October 08, 2015, 11:07:53 pm »
Brake lights and turning signals have quit working while towing our Honda CR-V.  Salt Lake City camping world refused to work on it til October 21. We're 1500 miles from home.

The socket in the Moho shows no power.  20 amp fuse #6 is good. Other fuses in secret places?

The invisibrake lights have also quit working.

What a dangerous mess we are in.

Can't help you with any technical advice, Janey, but I'm sure if you cast your net wide enough, you will find help on the internet, either here or elsewhere.
Another forum you could check is www.rvnetwork.com.  It is quite large and very active and full of lots of technical folks.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Forget Camping World for now. Go to your campground office or host and ask about a local mobile repair man. I have had very good luck with them and they normally can come within a day. The other option is a local RV dealer, but they also might have a backlog.

What do you mean by "invisibrake lights quit working"? My invisibrake get the signal to turn on the towed brake lights through the PC to car cable. So if the cable or wiring on the PC Is broken you would not have lights and the inivisibrake would not be getting a signal. Most RV repair guys can test test rear plug and tell you if the problem is on the PC or in the cable. Then they go from there to fix the problem.

Good luck.

We had the same problem last year while traveling.  Ours is on a Sprinter chassis so there will be a different electrical setup. The service center could not locate any bad fuses, eventually called Kermit who immediately told us where the blown and hidden fuse was.
As it turned out the problem was one of the light sockets that had been installed in the tail lights of our Honda for the towing break and signal lights was bad and shorting out and blowing the hidden fuse.
Good luck.

We were just north of Salt Lake City last summer and the inverter went out on our previous motorhome. We got the same type response from Camping World. Long story short, try South Valley RV Repair in Wellsville, Utah. 435-245-4746. They came to our site and completed the replacement of the inverter. They were excellent to work with.

Problem solved - by my brilliant husband!  Loose connection in the electrical cable connecting car to the Moho shorted fuse #48 under the hood.   Yippee!!
