Passenger rear view morror
« on: July 12, 2015, 10:50:38 am »
Oops!    Asked my husband to readjust the passenger rear view mirror - it was a bit forward. Well, it fell off. We have no idea why.  He was inside the Moho and we were driving down the street, so there is no way he could have forced it from his angle. It must have been bumped  somehow and his pressure finished it off. We're on a trip with reservations and plans so we're still moving forward. CRAP!

Stop at any auto parts store and ask for glue for mirrors. Then just glue it back onto the windshield. Two minute job.

Janey,

This happened to us when we had our 2008 2350.  The driver side-view mirror just snapped off when Barry was adjusting it.  The spring actually broke.  Since the PC was less then a year old at the time, the company that supplies the mirrors covered it under warranty. They actually had the whole assembly shipped to us after having it painted to match the rest of the rig.

We called PC when it happened and they took care of the rest.

The whole arm unit fell off.  It's incredibly big and heavy. We have it lodged inside hanging by the wires. Just hoping it doesn't rain or those wires will have to be cut. Good thing we bought the screens.

Janey,

Yep, that is exactly what happened to us but on the drivers side.  We were driving and I had to keep running to the back of the PC everytime we needed to change lanes to make sure the traffic was clear.  Barry had the unit hanging in the inside while he was driving.  You should be under warranty so call PC and see what they say.

Bummer  pyho

We've been lucky so far with the Velvac mirror arms on our 2007 2350, none broken yet.  I try real hard to remember to pull the arms inward when parked anywhere/everywhere, inspired when catching a child attempting to hang like a monkey on one of them.  I caught the child in time....been paranoid since.

So you're saying they fold in?  Wonder if that's true on our 2014. I'm afraid to try.

Janey,

The mirrors on both our 2008 and 2012 fold in.  They are made by Ramco.

The arms on both of the rear view mirrors on our 2013 model fold back.  It does take some force to push them back.

Did the factory switched to a double arm design RV mirror?  Do those mirrors adjust inward/outward as well as swing forward/rearward?  It appears they don't get painted.  I like the never-paint black plastic color for replacement purposes.  Maybe the double-arm applies only to the Sprinter as looking at some factory pics, there are still single arms on all Fords.

Ron,
Here are two photos of the rear view mirrors on our 2014 PC2552 (built on a 2013 Ford chassis).  I would call them single arm.

Bruce you have the short arm mirrors that became stand on all the Fords in 2012. before that they had the long arms on them. Yes, they are single arm unlike the sprinter mirrors.

I think we have the same mirrors on our 2007 2350 with only minor differences.

1) Our arms are a lot longer (as TomH states, shortened in later model years)
2) The glass mirrors on ours is single.  Yours are duel with different curvatures for better views to the rear.

So it's only the Sprinters that have duel arm mirrors.  That clears up my confusion.
