We were just notified that our new coach should be ready in a couple of weeks, it was a long wait.

I have a question to those that tow a vehicle behind their PC. Do you get much road debris thrown up onto your toad?

I ask because our last motorhome was a diesel pusher that almost destroyed the Honda that we towed. No matter what we did the toad was always covered with rocks and dirt at the end of a driving day, which resulted in the paint taking a beating. At the time we were towing an older car so we just lived with it.

The PC has a much longer rear over hang from the rear tires, and sets lower than our old motorhome. I am hoping that this distance will keep the rocks from pelting the toad.

I am curious about the experience of others. We now have a new vehicle to tow and I really don't want to beat it up.

Any input would be greatly appreciated

If your old DP had the rear mud flap across the back that would explain the rocks. The mud flap is known to throw small rocks. Just don't put one on the PC. I have less over hang then the 2910 does and I don't have any problems.

There is no evidence our 2350 throws rocks at the tow vehicle.  Our PC does have mud flaps just behind each pair of rear wheels as I believe we all do.

What I do see is fine sand accumulating around the windshield wiper area, I assume just other air born debris that whips around the rig and settles on the Jeep.  Our previous tow vehicle sat a lot lower and had a lot more accumulated sand and such in the wiper area.

Then again, maybe it does come up from the rear tires.  Wherever it originates, at least it's nothing sizeable.

Our 2013 2910 does not have mud flaps behind the rear wheels.

We put a mud flap across the back which was a mistake. On our trips, small rocks have peppered the paint on our Fit as well as dings on the windshield. We bought a bra for the front of the Fit but the top of the hood is dinged.

gradygal, I assumed every PC was equipped with the typical dual wheel mudflaps.  Are you sure they were not simply over-looked when the rig was built?  Call the factory and ask if you should have them.

We have model 3100 with the usual mud flaps.  We don’t have a problem with rock or debris damage to the tow car.  The only “problem” is driving in rain which, of course, covers the car with a film of dirt.

We've towed our 2013 Ford Focus and have only gotten one chip on the hood.

We have one chip on our Honda after pulling it for three years.  I bought a protect-a-tow that I use for long trips, but we don't worry with it for weekend jaunts of less than 100 miles.  Ours is a 3100.

We spoke to Kermit about the lack of mudflaps on the rear tires. He told us that they couldn't put them on because of the way the black tank is located.  (WH)

Our first PC (now on our second) was a 2900, no longer made.  We were also told when we bought it that mud flaps could not be added due to the position of one of the tanks.  We added a rock guard, http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/ultra-guard-94-w-x-20-h-for-motorhomes/13300, which worked fine.  We did not experience any problems with it picking up small rock as mentioned above.  We did try a bra, but it rubbed the paint – bad idea for us.
