Mike, re: Lake Tahoe - we spent a week on the south shore about 6 years back (in a timeshare we had traded into). We drove around the entire lake and took that paddle boat cruise and hiked several trails with our 2 year old granddaughter strapped to John's back, and checked out the just closed ski resorts (my son would have loved to have gotten there a week earlier). It was a beautiful place and a great trip.

We also found the world's best hamburger (at least the best I've had so far). I'm a bit of a hamburger purist. No cheese or bacon or goo to cover the flavor. Just perfectly grilled beef with fresh lettuce, tomatoes and dill pickle slices - heaven. AND my favorite to date was found at the Bridgetender Restaurant in Tahoe City, CA.

Tahoe would be a heck of a detour from our planned route... but they have those great hamburgers. I might have to try to whisper in John's ear while he's sleeping and see if the idea takes hold.

Yes we boon dock all the time, but we do dump and replenish every 3 to 4 days.  Apparently there is temporarily no operational dump station in or around the area in discussion.

One thing that folks should know if traveling in California....there is a statewide speed limit of 55 MPH for any vehicle that is towing anything.

We were camp hosts at San Simeon State Park this summer with stage 3 water restrictions.  Most water in the campground was shut off and restrooms/showers were closed, but dump station was open.  Fees were reduced $10

We came home from the Reunion westbound across I80, and the road is just fine.  Smooth, feels brand new all the way.  Couldn't *see* anything due to smoke from a huge fire around Grass Valley, I think.

They used to have really fun big yellow signs for truckers warning them of the approaching road curves and slopes...  Something like "Upgrade 1/2 mile, let 'er drift".  They're all gone now.

Oh so nice to hear I-80 is all good now west of Reno down that steep grade.  It was so bad 7 years ago, I swore I would never drive it again until repaired.  I didn't want to pay another $300 toll.

Yup, that stretch is all very nice now.  In the Sierras there are two seasons:  Winter ......and summer highway construction preparing for winter.

I don't think it ever did get as bad as the highways in Jacksonville, or I-95 through Jersey and NY.  Those potholes could easily swallow an RV.

Awesome! Thank you. We fell in love with the cute little critters so our granddaughter received a stuffed mommy and baby, magnet etc. So she loves them now too. The video will be perfect.
