We learned today that our 2552 is actually 28'4" long (w/o the ladder).  Since the PC Brochure lists the length as 27'5" this was a big surprise.  It's not a problem to us except that many folks who see us in RV parks ask about the length, and we have been giving them incorrect information.

In case you wonder how we learned this, here is a brief explanation:
One couple interested in ordering a 2552 from the factory wanted to view one here in Southern California in order to be sure that it would fit inside of their new garage that is now being constructed.  Earl referred them to us.  When they called, we invited them over to see ours.  They came prepared with their long tape measure today.  We measured the ground covered between the most forward front edge of the Ford bumper and the back of the spare tire cover.

This measurement is critical to them because the inside of the new garage is 27'10" from front to back.  No way would the 2552 fit there, so now they are wondering if the 2551 would fit.  Of course it will if the 2551 is actually 12" shorter than the 2552.

If any of you with a 2551 have an accurate measurement of your rig, we could forward that information to the potential buyers.

Wow! That's good to know. I plan to keep ours at 27' since some of the National Park campgrounds have a limit of... 27 feet. I figured we were fudging just a little but it seems we are fudging a good bit more. Most sites have room to hang your tail so unless we are butt up against a tree or fence we should be OK with the "adjusted" measurement when we book a site. Those nice views of the site they put on Reserve America help us figure out if the back end is blocked in some way. No problems so far but we aren't trying to tuck her into a garage either.

Very interesting. I always just added the four inches for the ladder to the 27' 5" and called it 28 feet. If the rig was not half buried in snow, I would run out and do a real measuring of it. May be later this week if the snow melts away and I can get it out I will measure it. In the mean time I will use Bruce's length of 28' 4". Thanks Bruce.

I just measured mine and got 28' 4" also. Just confirming what Bruce found. Maybe the web site needs to be corrected for the 2552 and checked for all the other models. This is a rather important measurement for some people.

Bruce did you guys measure the height as well as the length? Mine has about a foot of snow on top of it right now so i cannot measure it. If Phoenix has the length so wrong, I wonder about the height. I don't want a low bridge telling me that 10' 1" is not my real height.

It would be a good thing if they listed the height with all standard equipment, but also let the customer know what the height is for his/her own specific rig.  I would imagine that the standard a/c unit, for instance, has been changed during a model year...which would make the height different, possibly.

I opted for a Coleman A/C, which has a lower profile on the roof, but also had a Winegard satellite antenna factory installed which raised the clearance on my 2552 to 11 ft 6 in.  I've decided not to go under 12 foot bridges if I ever encounter them.  Unfortunately, tree branches aren't labeled/signed.

We didn't measure the height.  You raise a good point that the web site could be incorrect on that measurement, too.  We are so much shorter than most other motor homes that we never really thought about it.  But, people wanting to store their rig in a garage would likely want an accurate measurement on that before ordering a new unit. 

We have a satellite dome on ours, so it's a little taller than a standard unit.  The rig is in a storage lot now, and I don't think I can get an accurate measurement of it's height.  I'll try to get an approximate measure next time we go over to it.

Just measured our 2012 2551 and it measures 27 feet 2 inches.  That is without a ladder on back so it is to the end of the spare tire cover.  The ladder might extend it a little, not sure.

Boy is that an interesting and alarming find.  PC-USA needs to confirm this.  Either Bruce & Sharon got a unique 2552 or all 2552s are made longer than spec'd.  If so, all documentation and websites need to be corrected.

If that were the case with our 2350, I'd be in a pickle.  Fortunately spec'd dimensions are true to reality.  But that was back in 2007.  Who knows what little dimensional adjustments are happening from year to year.

Ron you should look at the brochure for both the 2551 and the 2552. They both are listed at 26' 5".

 If you look back a few post you will see where I measured my 2552 to confirm what Bruce found.

Ah......Maybe the 2552 is consistently at 28'-4".  That is quite a bit longer than the 2551, much more than the "proclaimed" foot.  As you say, the on-line documentation needs correcting.

Like you mentioned, it would be good to confirm the exact height.

I wonder if the 2008-2014s are a bit taller than the 2007s and older.  Maybe the additional weight capability of the chassis adds a little more height.

I can say that my old 2007 (empty) is true height of 9'-10" because it clears my garage door opening by the 1-1/4" difference.  I can get more clearance when the water tank is full and all our stuff is loaded to go on a trip.

The E350 is listed at 9'10" high and the E450 at 10'1".

What is the length of your 2350?

I never measured my 2350.

I do park the RV pulling forward until gently impacting a 2" foam block (my bumper) then back off 1" before setting the parking brake.  Judging the distance from the spare tire cover to my garage door, I think it's right on the money.
