2551 Can't get the front seat to swivel.

2551 Can't get the front seat to swivel.

Out for the second time only in our 2551  If I sit on the couch, the wall blocks me from seeing the TV.  How do you get the passenger seat to swivel.  There doesn't seem to be room.

It's a tight fit. You need to slide the seat all the forward and then tip the back forward. You should be able to turn it then. After you get it turned you can tip the back to a better position.

 I open the passenger door, slide the seat all the way forward, swivel it slightly, then slide it back a bit and complete the swivel, then adjust the slide and recline. It can be done without opening the door but I find it easier that way.

What jampodd Jim says, works for us too.

No need to open the door.
- push seat all the way forward
- place backrest as far forward as possible
- swivel seat

What I don't understand is how that will help watch TV.  Wouldn't you be facing the wrong direction?  For reference, here is our front seat swivelled.  My wife was demonstrating how the 3rd captain seat in our 2350 works for watching TV, so just ignore that.


My wife will watch a movie in the passenger seat while we are in transit.  She faces forward, lifts the armrest of the 3rd seat out of the way, pushes her front seat back as far as it goes, and reclines adequately to watch TV.  You should be able to do the same.  Admittedly, it's not ideal, but it does work.


I always wondered how people watch TV from the couch in slideout.  From only the rear most position?

You might consider adding a swivel to your TV.  We did this to beable to view the TV from any position on the couch as well as the beds.  Mount was under $40.  We ordered it from http://www.jensenrvdirect.com/flat-panel-lcd-tv-wall-mount-bracket-with-double-swing-arm-extension-137.html    I believe they are going for $60 now but they often have sales.  Many of the RVs with swivel TVs use this mount and they really work well.  The only thing we did add was a small shelf that the TV sits on to travel.  Don't know if it was needed but we feel more comfortable with it. That's a great idea.  Where did you get this bracket?  I can't see the TV because of the wall beside me.  I sit in the chair to use my computer because I can't see TV at all.

I am able to see the TV from the middle or far position of the couch in the 2552 with slide out. However, I thought I'd toss in my parents' solution for a 15 year old 19' Coach House which had no couch or extra seat - they mounted a mirror on a forward facing wall. My dad would lie on the bed in the back where he could see the TV and my mom would sit in the swiveled passenger seat doing her crafts and watching TV in the mirror.

Barb we got the bracket at http://www.jensenrvdirect.com/flat-panel-lcd-tv-wall-mount-bracket-with-double-swing-arm-extension-137.html.  If you need more installation pictures let me know.  We did counter sink the backet ever so slightly and added the dark box as access for all the cables.

What do you use to secure the bracket when traveling? Is your TV a 32"? Thanks!

We have a Vizio E260VA (26") it works great and with forward facing speakers we get good volume most of the time.  The speakers do produce somewhat of a tinny sound so we added a RCA sound bar over the door.

The TV rests on a shelf when not extended or during travel.  This shelf stops any vertical movement of the TV during travel and as an added precaution I added a velour strap to loop around the front of the TV but I'm not sure it is even needed.
