Windemere on Lake Guntersville in Alabama
« on: September 18, 2013, 10:04:44 pm »
Fran and I just bought a RV lot in Windemere Cove RV Resort on Guntersville Lake at Langston, AL. It was originally planned to be a class a motorhome resort, but as the economy turned south in 2009 it reverted to an open resort. They accept any motorhome, 5th wheel, or trailer that is no more than 10 years old(no junk) and 26 or more feet in length. It is about 40% sold out with all amenities completed. We bought next to the clubhouse with a view of the lake. They have a launching ramp and large boat dock for enjoying the lake. I'm posting some pictures in case anyone else might be interested. It was an overcast day when the pictures were taken:
It's not that I'm insensitive, it's probably that I just don't care. ;)

BASS will have their annual classic tournament on it this year. It's rated as one of the best bass lakes in the country. Back in my serious bass fishing days, I probably fished it a thousand times. Now I'm looking forward to riding around or  just floating on a pontoon boat. It's about a 6 hour drive North from my house in the SE corner of Alabama. Every two or three years it actually snows.

I have two mounted from Guntersville lake. The smaller one was almost 8# and the bigger one was 10#. I've caught some larger, but they were in Florida on a shiner.

The last picture is of my fishing partner with a couple of nice ones.

2o2 Nice ones, indeed! That post had me sold on the place!  Unfortunately, Joni didn't appear as, um, excited.

I'm an avid fisherman and am so looking forward to visiting these kinds of places, when we take PC-delivery <twiddle>. Do you have a boat stored there, or rent?

They have a boat storage area where several keep their boats and toys. We are shopping for a used fishing type pontoon boat, but no luck so far. Probably do better when the weather turns colder. Not sure about rentals, but assume they are available.

We bought a used fishing pontoon boat and enjoyed it this week at our lot on Guntersville lake. The developer has just completed a boat storage building and we grabbed one before they were all gone. Great storage with electricity. Pic attached-need to put a trolling motor on the bow.

If Northern California doesn't break off from California, then come to my area (LA) where you can live for a third of what you pay in California. We may not have the ocean, but the Gulf is calmer. Thanks for the Congrats!

:lol well, just about anywhere except NYC would cost about a third as much as California.  I visited LA a few years ago for the first time (ok, I was dragged) and found it so amazing that we've been back quite a few times when we could get away.  Truly the friendliest people in the world down thar!

Joni and I just received delivery of our very first RV today, and I'm typing from our very first night in an RV park.  I know that the first day, week, month.....can be a learning experience, but based on today I don't see us making it out of California for a little while yet.  (WH) More on that later, but I am.....what's the word....oh yes: TIRED!   :lol
