The Good Fairy
« on: February 28, 2013, 09:22:37 am »
I was hit with this question years ago in a job interview and have used it myself with job candidates, friends, strangers, etc. ever since. Before I ask the question, let me lay out the parameters:
- Your response should be based on NO RESTRICTIONS.  Not money, physical capabilities, sex, race, age, education, knowledge, personal responsibilities, etc.
- The first thing that comes to mind is usually the truth in this case.  It is something hidden in your subconscious mind.

The Question:
The Good Fairy comes down and bops you on the head with her wand and you instantly become exactly what you want to be, doing what you want to do in life. What is it?

One more Caveat: DON'T READ THE OTHER POSTS BEFORE FIGURING OUT YOUR RESPONSE.

I'll go first. I would be designing and building homes that use alternate energy. Passive and active solar, geothermal, wind, etc. using green building techniques with sustainable resources.

I would be conducting a major symphony orchestra.  Of course with that kind of schedule, I wouldn't have time to enjoy my PC  :'(

Be rich enough to do what comes to mind, at any time.

I didn't seem to have the intellectual capacity to respond to this.  However, my wife BJ did. (Any of you who met her in Kerrville will find it in keeping with her personality.)

She said, "I would want to be President of the United States...and "DRILL, BABY, DRILL' into that 2000 year reserve we have trapped underground!!!!" hi5

Of course, if we did that, there would be plenty of gas for our PC's

I seem to have a pretty good ability to develop people and make them into teams.
Selfishly, the enjoyment I had was so great, I'd do it for nothing if given the chance.

And there ain't no "Good Fairies".
Carry on, regardless..................

I thought maybe this was part of that Good Fairy joke where the fairy taps the husband on the head and grants him a wish.  He says he would like to have a wife 20 years younger than him (no offense to his wife who is 70, he says).  And presto, the Fairy taps him on the head and he is now 90 instead of 70. Moral of the story, be careful what you wish for.

There is TOO a "Good Fairy". There was a picture of her on the 40th birthday card my sweetie gave me. The card said

"Every year on your birthday the good fairy taps you on the head with her wand and makes you one year older... (open the card)... OH MY GOODNESS - she must have beaten the @%$& out of you"

- Isn't he just too sweet? It took me a long time to cure him of that gaggy romantic stuff. Sometimes I wonder If I cured him a little too well.
