I could not agree with that statement so I wrote something else.  I can have a very good day at work, and bad day camping, though most often reveresed which is why I wish I could retire.

I retire at 52 because I could, and would happily have worked another 10 if I could have found a job doing what I was doing.

Vince and I sold our business of 30 years 6 years ago .... we both love being retired, but owning our business we pretty much worked year round. We took one family vacation with our son before he graduated and went in the Air Force but it was all of 5 days .... and just when we thought we were unwinding and having a good time we had to head back home.  We saw the change of seasons for the first time ever two years ago when we took a quick trip up to North Carolina. Our problem is that we never did any traveling so we really don't know where or what to do.  We drive someplace and turn around and come back home again.

Retirement is great we just don't how to use it !!!!!!!

I retired 6 years ago and find the more 'free' time you have, the more demands are placed upon it............by others.

I worked for a large energy company that had great retirement benefits, but a fairly high stress level working environment.  Most of the engineers retired between 55 and 58 years old; I retired two weeks before my 57th birthday.  Retirement is NOT overrated.  What made it possible for me and the other workers there was that you could continue with your health coverage including prescriptions and dental at the same cost to you as if you were still working.  At 65 you went on Medicare and your company insurance converted to a low cost Medicare supplement policy.  It will be interesting to see if more people will retire early if they have Obamacare rather than company insurance, as they would sse no difference in cost.  I have continued until the last couple of years (I'm now 70) to occasionally consult or teach courses for the company I retired from, but never regretted retiring early.

I too took early retirement (age 58) from a large communication company. What made it possible was the health insurance that the company continued to pay till Medacare kicked in, and now supplies a low rate supplement. Without the health care thingy, I would not have retired at the early age. Also... Retirement is NOT over rated. The wife and I are busier now than when retired, and have to sometimes say the word NO to some peoples activities.   As Christians, we do enjoy medical Missions trips to countries bringing the Gospel to many and other volunteer activities.

So after saying all this, our other passion is camping mostly dry camping from 1 feb to 1 may in Ariz/NM.  Summer is spent camping in many short trips throughout the area and to our family camp.

I would love to retire to do more of what I already do.....faith based charity work, mostly through our church.  And all the time in between would be about the two of us and family.  I so desire all that kind of "Busy".

Ron ... that is going to be  the most satisfying times of your life, as you already know.  The PC just adds too our enjoyment when doing times with our family and friends.

eRon in retirement.... that would give more time for modifications and upgrades to his PC 2350. And that means my 2350 would benefit from his posts here in the forum.  Afterall, Denny & Barb, Ron practically ordered my PC before I purchased it from East Acres.

I think he'd make a great salesman for Phoenix Cruiser.

I have to also admit, that I got more idea's for my 2350 from Ron and others before I even took delivery. I had mods and changes listed on a piece of paper from this PC group, just waiting for the coach to arrive... So yep, Ron .... retire.... promise you will never look back!  (Just make sure your med insurance is covered ... that's the bigy)
