Removing The Macerator Pump
« on: October 11, 2012, 07:07:30 pm »
Can anyone tell me how to disconnect the pump wiring. I've taken off all the hoses and clamps but cannot locate a quick disconnect to the wiring.

The PC is 4 years old  and I want to do some maintenance to the system, replacing rusty worm clamps, and possibly the hanger.

I can't help you there Bill, but I can relate as I still have not updated my macerator pump mounting strap to the one the factory has been installing the past few years.  Mine made of this stuff is the one embarrassment to my rig.  I still hold my breath when I show people my setup, and it ain't because of any odors.  I could and should come up with something much nicer at home with some materials laying around.

Hi Ron

I'v been looking at that silly pipe strap and wondering if I used a muffler hanger a u bolt as a replacement.

As for the wiring, I'm consider snipping it and adding a quick disconnect that will be covered with a plastic hose that I can slide off when I need to removw the pump

Thanks for the reply Ron

I cut the wires, and use something like this, http://www.delcity.net/store/Push!on-Terminals/p_189081

i crawled under PC while rain off & break in The Big Bang Theory and looked at my wire.  looks like two layers of plastic wire protector which covers a greenish wire splice disconnect-connect thingamabob.

Thank You Kevin...
I'll go back under and strip the plastic wire protector to see if I have a thingamabob before splicing a new thingamabob in

Personally, I would opt for a sealed connector with water-tight gaskets like the auto industry uses.  Wiring to the pigtails, I would solder and shrink-tube over the solder joint for a water tight splice.

I think you can buy the connector pair with pigtail wires at any auto parts store.  Just be sure to select a very heavy guage version to accomodate the amperage of the macerator pump....whatever that is.

Kevin, Ron,

Gooooooood News.  Kevin In Stealth Mode was right on.  Buried beneath the plastic are 2 disconnects.

The macerator and hose are in a warm cozy place for the winter....

Thanks guys for the help.

Ron

I had a hard trying to turn the pump off of the plumping, so I used a flexible oil filter wrench, very gingerly not to damage the pipe
