Window awnings

Window awnings

I am siting here in Myrtle Beach Travel Park, SC. surrounded by a lot of large white campers. The sun is shinning brightly. I have noticed that some of the class A motorhomes have window awnings on them. They have me wondering about putting window awnings on my PC. I am thinking that the livingroom and on both bedroom windows. I know the passengers side is under the main awning, but this would allow me to cover the window without having to put the main awning out. I have the standard windows, not the dual pane ones.

Has anyone put window awnings on their PC?
How well do they work?
Do they help keep the heat down?
Do they make it to dark inside?

Yes, they work great. We had one installed over the slide windows. Does keep the heat down and  the sun out. Did not install for bedroom. We have covers over the inside windows. Enjoy!


PS, we had them installed lower to keep out light but can still see.  U or UR wife take a yardstick and on the outside of window about 14-16" away hold the yardstick level  and move it up-down to see ur view. Tell the installer about where u want them. Hope this is clear. Let me know. Billy

Hi Tom,

We have an individual awning for our driver-side dinette and really appreciate having it for both sun and rain.

About the passenger side.  Can you open your main awning a foot or two to help with the sun and rain?  We do that and it works well as long as the sun is not too low.  Is your issue more with early morning/later afternnon sun that has you thinking about this?  I have seen a small awning under the large one, but not yet on a PC.

I would think PC-USA can ship you a window awning that matches your main awning.  Installation seems like a do-it-yourself project.  The question is whether there is enough room between the top of the window and the underside of the main awning.

   We have the 2552 w/slide and had PC send us an awning for the window in the slide.  I installed it and is well worth it.

I have installed two, one on our trailer and the class A . While in Quartzsite I Had sun pro install a full length over both slide windows. Dometic has a beautiful brown that matched perfect. Very pleased, this time I WATCHED the tec do the work.

Tom, i spoke to Kermit on my AC issues yesterday and also asked him about the awnings and whether i could purchase from him.

He told me to just go to Camping world -- probably not the one at Lazy Days in Tampa, though -- and buy from them. He said they will be quicker an likely less expensive. I pass on his comments.

You can buy the black windshield screen from PC directly, and we will.

Thanks Greg. I did check out CW and called Carol at PC. Carol wanted $180 plus shipping each. I would do the install. If I lived closer to the factory they could install them, ($?). CW wanted $951 for three installed. $225 each plus install.

We already have Amada's windshield covers and they are, as tony the tiger says "great". Much better at bocking the sun during the day and the outside lights at night. I have not used my old CW covers since I got these.

We are newbys and ordered ours at the Hershey show.  We are having them installed when they build the unit.  Our experience with other rigs is that hey are beneficial.
