What are we using to receiver our tv service. We have directv with a winegard crank up on the roof and when under trees a winegard manual systems, you know a pod, point and hope system. You must know this, when we first started traveling I told Sharon we would have phone and tv service to watch what she wanted and talk to the kids, whenever.

uh......huh?  Billy, what are you asking, / or saying?  I feel as though I jumped into the twilight forum.  Did I miss a previous forum post about tv, phone, etc?  I'm just a po'boy born & raised in Michigan & sometimes do'nt hartley foller highfalutin cultured type talktalk.  Methinks I'll take myself to the icebox for some fine boxed wine Linda got & watch the guy fall into Niagara River.

We also have Direct TV on the road but I use a portable dish/tripod that I set up on the ground.  The entire system is manual including the use of a hand held compass.  This allows me to move the dish around the campsite until I am able to get a good signal.  This works perhaps more than 98% of the time.  Since I am using the same input connection for my satellite or cable I had to install a diplexer.

For cell and internet service we use Verizon and there are very few times we have not had service.

We have Dish network and a satellite receiver that we used on our old RV. Not a DVR just the basic receiver.  We have receivers in the house so this one is strictly for the RV and we won't be moving it about. We used a Wingard automatic satellite antenna on our old rig but found a problem withtree branches interfering and figured a portable would be the key.  I have been looking on Camping World and thought the Tailgater portable antenna looks good.  Or the VuCube which looks the same configuration.

It says it doesn't need dc power so can I just plug it into the cable jack?  Or should I call the factory and ask for a satellite antenna jack back near the cable?  But will this get satellite to our bedroom TV too?  All these questions!!

Now you know why they call me a "Newbie".

 :-D :-D :-D I didn't have my specks on ;) ;) I now realize you are talking about cable tv & telephoney service.  We use the antenna on the roof & a Sam's club calling card.  However, it is getting harder to find an intact payphone.  So, I send postcards. :lol :lol roflol roflol :)(: :)(:

Anne and Bob … I have a Tailgater w/Dish Network and use the Pay As You Go plan, $34.99 monthly includes HD.   You must use the Dish Network 211K receiver.  I plug the end of the coax from the dish to the cable plug on the outside of the Cruiser.  No additional power plug is needed.  I have used the 50' coax that came with the Tailgater and a 100' coax and I have seen no difference in reception.  I also have had to hook both together (RG6 coax / F barrel connecter = 150') at one site and the longer length worked fine.  Keep a compass handy to help point the Tailgater.
Don't forget to set the television to Cable not Satellite.  At least that is how everything works on mine.  It is a very easy walk thru on screen to set it up.  It works fantastic and I have no complaints.

I haven't experienced any rain fade "yet".  I've been in a few storms.  Everyone talks about it, so I'm waiting for it to happen.  I waxed the Tailgater with a marine wax.  I don't know if this will help to keep it from fading but I figured it couldn't hurt.  It made the job of cleaning our fiberglass boats easier and I had a couple bottles of it left that we hadn't used.

Just ordered our Tailgater satellite antenna.  Next question:  How do you keep it from being stolen.  I can just see it sitting out there near the driveway in some RV park just waiting to be picked up.  Do you chain it to a stake?  Stake out the dog next to it? Take it in at night? or just watch cable when you are in a park.  Bob is asking me all these question and, geeeez, how should I know.  Can someone with a Tailgater give me info?  Thanks.

Some folks put them up high on their ladder with a bracket made for a Tailgater ... not that crooks can't climb.  Plus that makes it stationary too.  I had the same questions going through my head before I bought one.  Even using a lock with a security cable it can be cut through very quickly and easily. If I leave the PC for a period of time, I do unscrew the cable from it and set it inside.  After way too much time worrying about it, I have finally decided that if somebody wants something bad enough they will find a way to steal it.
P.S.  My dish has strong Karma attached to it ... what goes around comes around.  :-D

Tom.  tymote I sure like that idea and just might do it.  Big and bold letters ! 
Just an added note ... your insurance under Comprehensive might cover theft.  Mine does and has a $100 deduct on it.  Just will help the "sting" a little if it does get stolen.
