12v on passenger side drops out
« on: June 03, 2017, 06:01:47 pm »
We have an intermittent 12v anomaly in our 2012 2400 Sprinter. When the air conditioner is running and I turn on any light under the passenger side cabinets, the thermostat will shut off and all lights go dark. This doesn't affect the undercabinet lights on the driver side nor the overhead flourescents. After less than a minute, the thermostat will restart the a/c and the lights come back on. This happened 2 or 3 times several months ago; and just happened twice today. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Call the factory. There is a big bundle of wires running around your rig and they'll know which ones tie in where and which items pull power from them.

Thanks John...that's my next step when (a) they open tomorrow and (b) we get back home from a six week trip. I just thought I'd ask around while I was digesting my dinner from Lamberts "Throwed Rolls".  Being in Missouri and Southern Illinois for another day, I'll trade my undercabinet lights for air conditioning anyday  2o2.

I agree, it is wise to call the factory.

In the mean time, it wouldn't hurt to remove the base cabinet cutting board & drawers to inspect the 12V & 110V wires running around the area.  Make sure it all looks good with no screws piercing through insulation and such.  It is one of the few areas where you can inspect the wiring on that side of the PC without tearing things apart.

Here is our base cabinet reconfigured with drawers removed.

With about the same effort, you can see some wiring in the cavity of the microwave.

Thanks Ron, but a 2012 PC2400 Sprint layout is a whole different animal. All the wiring runs from the breaker/fuse panel in the base of the corner counter next to the door on the curb side then behind the furnace and refrigerator to the thermostat and lights. I've emailed Kermit already.

Oops, most definitely a different arrangement.  Sorry about the mix-up.  :)

Nothing yet.  I emailed Kermit late Sunday night so it would be at his desk Monday morning.  We are home now so I am going to try to duplicate the intermittent problem now that we aren't dependent on air conditioning.  More later. . . :)(:
