Another Inverter question.
« on: June 09, 2022, 05:39:46 pm »
I almost never use the inverter since I usually have an electric connection while parked.  The question came up - If I'm plugged in and using the A/C, would I be able to  turn on the inverter and use one of the invertor outlets without drawing on the same power as the A/C?  Or do the inverter outlets automatically switch over to plugged in electric?   (Does that make any sense?)

I have a 2019 2552.

Good question. I think it switches but not sure and don't know how. If you don't get a definitive answer here, and if you're in the Travel Club, that would be an excellent question for the"Ask Doug" Zoom meeting on June 28th at 1:00 Eastern.

The inverter essentially has it's own transfer switch so if you are plugged into shore power (or running the generator) the inverter doesn't do anything, all the outlets are fed by shore power.

Like Don said, most inverters go into bypass mode when shore or generator power is present. Here is a pretty good explanation of how it works.:
