General Discussion / Re: A saga and some plumbing questions
« on: May 12, 2022, 04:18:50 pm »
Update 5/11.  Still had problems with Blackwater plumbing. After quite a bit of experimenting I finally figured out what appears to be problem. It looks like the bathroom sink drains directly into Blackwater tank. This is why it overflows. Now that I know this I do not use bathroom sink to empty freshwater into gray water before dumping tanks. Easy work around for now. After camping season I will probably try to get it fixed.

Tips and Tricks / Small insects and screens

We are getting ready to do a trip where tiny biting gnats (no-see-ums) may be present. Was wondering how well the PC screens work for this, and some tricks on how to handle this.

Hi Ron,
Thanks for your quick reply. I agree with your assessment. We will have a RV repair shop check things out just in case, while doing other work. As long as water is not pooling up somewhere, I think we learned our lesson and will not let this happen again!

General Discussion / A saga and some plumbing questions
« on: March 27, 2022, 10:17:55 pm »
Got a new (2021) PC 2351D last Fall. Still learning a lot with this rig, very different from my old Winni’s. Today I thought we were all set to do our first trip of season. I had just tested our new setup for flat towing our jeep. But  yesterday I discovered that it’s quite important to check to see if the plug for emergency break line has not been accidentally pulled out (which then continuously applies brakes). Jeep seemed to be pulling fine until I started to smell burning rubber.  Now I realize why it so important to check the patriot braking system  wireless brake monitor, which I could not install because I could not find a cigarette lighter type 12v plug in the cab. Thinking about switching one of the usb plugs for one that will power this monitor.  I am not sure how hard it would be to do this. And btw jeep will be in shop for a while.

And today the final straw on our camping plans was seeing water leaking from around the black water tank. My wife was not at all impressed with my skills so far. . It turns out I failed to notice that the flush valves on the tanks were not closed since winterization. So apparently the gray water filled the black water tank to over flowing. This was indicated by the sink and toilet no longer being able to drain, and the meters indicating the same. As far as we can tell it is leaking somewhere under the rig. No evidence of water on floor. There was a thin stream of water on the outside,  coming from a seam just above  the side hinges for the cover for the sanitation system. Anybody ever had this issue?  We want to make sure it isn’t pooling water somewhere and  damaging something.

This is a great forum, have learned a lot so far. But these rigs sure can be complicated!

General Discussion / Re: Dead house batteries
« on: March 21, 2022, 01:40:04 pm »
This is a really useful thread. I am also having problems with my batteries. I have a new PC as of last October. So I would like to know more what is considered the best practices to maintain batteries when not connected to shore power and in covered storage (so solar does not help). I have been turning off house power, and running generator about 20-30 minutes once a month, which seemed to work for my previous RV.  At first this seemed to keep batteries ok, generally 3-4 red lights on the battery display. But then after a few months it would get down to 2 lights within a month and the converter starting giving me the warning of low voltage. When I measured with a volt meter it was just below 12v so I worried that batteries were getting damaged. So I am thinking either batteries are defective or I am not doing my recharging enough, or there is something causing batteries to drain even though I have house battery power turned off  I do have 2 6v AGM batteries, which is what most people seem to recommend. So I really don't want to replace these expensive batteries if if can avoid it, and certainly want to know what are the "Best practices" to maintain batteries in storage.  I am thinking using a smart charger instead of just relying on built in inverter/charger may be required, as some others have recommended.  Another side question is that some people have recommended using a battery meter plugged in to a cigarette plug to monitor voltage. But wouldn't this do the same as just checking the battery voltage on the inverter (xantrex freedom) display?  I would like to do some boon docking this summer and so want to make sure batteries are up to the task.

General Discussion / Dining table for PC 2351D
« on: December 31, 2021, 11:41:23 am »
Wondering if anyone has found a better dining table that fits the 2351D? We find that the standard table is pretty unstable since legs are in middle not corners, kind of heavy and a pain to stow in bedroom storage area (have to pull everything out of it to access the table). We were thinking a lighter folding camping table might work better.

General Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself!

Just got a new PC, a 2351D.  Really liked fact that it is a smaller easy to drive RV but still has comfortable queen sized bed, functional bathroom/shower and kitchen. Have had a couple of Winnebagos, so its been pretty easy to figure things out for this one. Love the build quality, and the many technology updates over our previous rigs. This one is small enough (ca. 25') to fit in national park and forest service campgrounds, so we are excited to be able to use in shoulder seasons as well as summer, and be able to experiment more with dry camping and having a lot more options for camping than we did before. We did our first test with a 1000 mile trip from dealer Ito home, including dry camping in Grand Canyon National park (which went perfectly). Also love how easy it is to drive compared to our Winni Vista (small class A).  Looking forward to learning more about  what modifications and things other people have learned about their rigs.

General Discussion / Re: HWH Jacks

We got a new PC which had one bad jack. We were told that they have to be manufactured. So PC is building another one for us. So if you cannot find a local machinist you might want to contact PC and see if they can make another one.
