General Discussion / Another Inverter question.
« on: June 09, 2022, 05:39:46 pm »
I almost never use the inverter since I usually have an electric connection while parked.  The question came up - If I'm plugged in and using the A/C, would I be able to  turn on the inverter and use one of the invertor outlets without drawing on the same power as the A/C?  Or do the inverter outlets automatically switch over to plugged in electric?   (Does that make any sense?)

I have a 2019 2552.

Thank you Don!  I'll give it a try this weekend and see what I get.

Don, just wanted to let you know that the "magic" worked just great!  Thank you so much.  I was even able to help someone else that didn't know to turn off the antenna booster.

Just turn OFF the amplifier in the cabinet to the right of the TV, it should have a green LED that's lit when the antenna amplifier is on.  Typically just a red pushbutton to turn it on and off.

You do NOT have to swap any cables around, the amplifier does that when you turn it off.

But isn't that assuming there is already a wire going from the cable input (inside the cabinet) to the TV?  Mine has no wire attached.

I'm going to a campground that supposedly has cable TV available.  I know where to plug in on the outside of the RV, but not sure if I have to change anything on the inside.  My husband said I had to move the cable that comes from the TV from the antenna connection to the cable connection in the cabinet above the passenger seat. Is that correct?  Or can it be connected with another cable and just use the TV itself to switch between antenna and cable?  2019 2552.

No liquid springs and the back tires were on the ground.

General Discussion / Interesting problem with outside storage drawer.
« on: April 04, 2021, 04:50:50 pm »
This weekend I was parked in an area where the passenger side of the 2552 was low.  I used my levelers and all was fine - so I thought.  I could NOT get the outside drawer to open.  I was afraid I was going to break it if I pulled any harder.  I emptied the top portion, lifted the floor and was able to get what I needed in the drawer so I managed ok.  When I got home and was parked on a fairly level area (no levelers), the drawer opened just fine.  What is happening?  Could the rear leveler be jamming against the drawer somehow?

General Discussion / Re: Engine battery is dead

Thanks for all the responses.  I now have a new battery.  (I drive alone and husband didn't want to be called if I was stuck somewhere.  LOL).  Anyway, after he installed it, he measured the output.  1.5 amps seems like a lot of loss when nothing is on - or at least I can't find anything on.  Does that sound reasonable?  BTW, I'm still plugged into AC.

General Discussion / Engine battery is dead
« on: September 21, 2020, 04:20:24 pm »
I haven't used my RV since March due to Covid.  I'm getting it ready to use next weekend and discovered my engine battery is totally dead.  I know to run the generator from time to time, but didn't realize I had to also run the engine.  (The house batteries are fine - unit was plugged in entire time).  We jumped it 2 days ago and ran the engine for 20 minutes.  Today it is dead again.  What could be draining power from the engine battery?  I haven't used the radio and no lights were left on.  Is there something else?

Looks like it is time for a new battery!

General Discussion / Re: 3" hose in spare tire
« on: March 22, 2020, 10:32:08 am »
Thanks Ron.  I've seen your pictures and I like what you've done.  I don't use the hose regularly at all.  Right now I'm looking for ideas that don't involve asking my husband to do something else on an RV that he rarely uses.  ("All I do is fix things!")   LOL.

General Discussion / 3" hose in spare tire
« on: March 21, 2020, 07:41:43 pm »
For those of you that store a 3" sewer hose in the spare tire - How do you keep it from falling out when you remove the tire cover?  Anyone have a picture of how to fit a 15' sewer hose in there?  Maybe you have no end caps attached?  (Not the big L-shaped one, just the small rings.)  Anyway, I want to use that space for the spare hose but I'm not very successful getting even a small hose to fit.

If I can figure out how to do it - here are the pictures.  First picture is the remote control box that is wired to the pump.  Second picture is the remote.

For those that think I'm trying to push everything through the tiny hose - no, I've never done that.  I always remove the end cap so I have the 3" opening.  However, the pump pressure is still strong enough to pop the hose out of the sewer hole.  However, my husband has come up with a solution.  He made a remote control "thingy" that turns the  pump off/on with the click of a button on a hand held remote.  I can be standing on the plastic thing that fits into the hole and turn on the pump from there.  The original pump switch will still work, but isn't needed if I want to use the remote.  In case the remote switch gets pushed accidentally, there is also a toggle switch on the little box that he built that turns it off.  I'll take pictures later although I have no idea how he built it.

Thanks for all the replies.  I do take off the little cap that is meant for a hose attachment.  However, I'm rarely close enough to put my foot on the part that goes into the sewer pipe and it won't screw in, so....  the pump causes the end to pop out of the pipe.  I like the suggestion of the ball valve.  I'll have to ask my husband to do "one more thing" to the almost new RV.  LOL.

Good idea!  Thanks for the link.  I think I'll order those water bags.
