General Discussion / Re: PC news from Tampa
« on: January 23, 2019, 11:43:29 am »
Thanks Ron - it is beautiful (at least to us anyway!) and lives in a covered, climate controlled storage facility which keeps it looking new all the time!  A local man realized there was a market for indoor RV storage and
purchased an abandoned distribution warehouse.  It is now full of high-end RVs and offers electricity and heating if the temp drops below 38 deg.  Wish I was smart enough to recognize the investment potential.
I have been disappointed in the lack of interest although it is JAN and if you buy one now, it might just have to sit around.  Someone out there is going to get a beautiful, nearly new coach!

Unfortunately, we are having to sell our brand new 2018 2910D with only 1850 miles on it.  So, I got a call from a couple (who had attended show) about my unit - they had seen a new model: 2910E which featured an entertainment center in the 2910T dinette location.  It had a 53" TV, sound bar and some other items and no Euro chairs. Guess they might have purchased it as they didn't call back.

General Discussion / Re: E450 Battery Red Light On - No Start
« on: January 10, 2019, 09:14:59 am »
I noticed some mentioned the White dash rocker switch (which I have) and others mentioned that earlier models had a Trick-L-Start installed on their units.  Two questions:

1. If you have the White dash rocker switch: When you plan to store your unit WITH SHORE POWER CONNECTED, do you simply push the switch to keep the battery charged?
(I've never seen ANY instructions on when to use the white switch).

2. Can you have the Trick-L-Start device AND the push the White rocker switch without causing some sort of electrical problem?

Sure wish the manual addressed this among about 100 other things.

Great info from everyone and thank you for the quick responses.  I stopped by the Ford dealer prior to heading over to the RV (also Ford truck dealer) and the tech told me the red light in the Ford factory battery is only a charge status of the battery - bright red = battery has lost charge and must be charged to operate.  As the battery is charged, the red light dims and will eventually go out when the battery is fully charged.  Nothing more than that.

My next stop was the RV to see if the battery held the charge over night after jump starting the RV the previous day and driving it for 30 - 45 minutes.  First, I looked at the battery light and the red glow was barely visible.  Sure enough, the engine cranked right up -  nothing to indicate a low battery state in the form of dim dash lights, etc.  I let it run for awhile.  I looked around to see if anything might be ON that could be "eating" the battery charge. The only thing I found was the antenna booster was left ON from a previous visit.  I doubt that's wired to the truck battery, but who knows.  Everything else related to the cab was OFF.

As some you know, we are selling our unit due to some health concerns - I'm kinda sad to be learning all this good stuff just as we sell the unit!  If you know of anyone who might interested in a nearly new 2910D, please let me know.  Again, thanks to ALL - what a great group of folks!

General Discussion / E450 Battery Red Light On - No Start
« on: January 09, 2019, 09:30:22 am »
Went out to the 7 mo old RV (stored indoors) yesterday and tried to start it - nothing happened ... no click, no nothing.  Raised the hood and saw the red light on the battery illuminated - obviously something is amiss.
Using my Class A experience, I pressed the white rocker switch on the front dash and then remembered that this doesn't work like my class A - it's a trickle charge.  Hmmm, finally, I jump started it,
and drove it around for 30 minutes on the interstate - the battery indicator stayed at the 6 o clock position (where it normally should be) the whole time it was driven.  When I returned, I shut it off and restarted it
several times without any problem.  I'll be heading back later this morning to see if it starts.  No warning lights on the dash were ever illuminated.   I have a few questions for the experts though:

1.  Just what does the red light in the battery mean?  As usual, the Ford manual doesn't really indicate.  I did notice that after driving the unit, the light dimmed significantly - almost out.  If the light goes out
is the battery usable?

2.  Exactly what is the battery indicator on the dashboard telling me?  When it's at the 6 o'clock position, does that mean the alternator is charging the battery normally?

I've never thought much about these indicators over the years as I've never really had battery problems - it's time for me to learn!

I had the same problem and I believe rule 2. of the Rules of Use of this Board is your answer:

I have an identical unit on RVT and Ebay with only 1,800 miles - just about every 2019 upgrade including 2 AC/50A power and in heated storage, Purchased new in June of 2018.  The answer to your question for us is, health issues.

General Discussion / Towing Capacity?

I can't find a PC document that indicates the towing capacity for my 2018 2910D.  I feel certain it's 5,000 lbs, but just want to make sure that's correct.

Thanks!

Just curious - which slide out is it?  Wondering if it's the largest one or one of the others.

Apparently Atwood has been purchased by Dometic.  My Atwood links take me to the Dometic website.

I couldn't agree with you more!  When we picked up our 2910D in June, we had no idea of what "add-ons" or customizations PC had to offer.  It would be simple to take photos of popular add-ons and turn it into a catalog for customers to use when ordering a new unit or even for those planning to visit the factory in their PC unit with the intent of adding and/or upgrading things.  Tiffin does this - their factory has a dedicated "lane" for owners returning for customization along with their repair lanes.  The new owner of my 36LA drove it over to the factory and replaced a desk area with a dinette.

Wow!  Couldn't pass up some of these!  The Hanging Gravity Sewer Hose Storage Tube is currently (as of 10/15/18) on sale for $43 at Camping World.  If you can find a way to spend $7 more (and you know you will), shipping is free for all the items you purchase.

The OD of the factory exhaust pipe is 3" on my unit (2018 - 2910D).  I did notice that that an extension is sleeved and clamped to the main exhaust pipe to provide a desired final length.  I purchased a chrome extension on Amazon, but it's too long so I'll either remove the sleeve or shorten it.

General Discussion / Re: Freezer Frost Buildup - 2018 2910D
« on: October 10, 2018, 07:00:26 am »
Yesterday, I called Norcold about frost/ice build up in our 7XR refrigerator (2018/2910D).  It turns out there is a warranty repair for "sagging doors" and bad door seals - either of which (or both) can allow moist, humid air to enter the compartments (refrigerator and freezer) and hasten the buildup of ice on the fins.  After confirming I had registered my warranty, they advised a door seal/door sag repair kit would be sent to my local RV shop for installation at no cost.  They also mentioned that there's a heat cycle that occurs every 49 hrs of continuous use to melt any accumulated frost - water is accumulated in a molded plastic tray against the back of the refrigerator and drained through a rubber tube with a pin hole located in the capped end of a drain tube.  I checked the drain tube for the water tray (access through the outdoor removable panel behind the refrigerator) to make sure it wasn't clogged up (it wasn't).

If you purchase a new unit, please take the time to go through the pounds of literature in the owner's bag you receive at pickup.  There are at least 2 or 3 warranty registration cards that need to be filled out and mailed back to the mfr. It might save you some $$$!
