General Discussion / Re: Macenator / water pump fuse location
« on: September 11, 2025, 06:23:34 pm »
just had the same issue with my 2013. Just took off the cap, turned the blade and everything worked again.

I paid Diamond Shield, based in Elkhart, to remove it on my 2013 3100 and then reapply a new Diamond Shield with a warranty. I'm a DIYer and researched the removal process.  After spending several hours on the recommended removal process I quickly found that I would likely do more harm to the paint job than the videos discussed.  They had all the old, molded Diamond Shield off and reinstalled a new coating in just one morning.  That was 3 years ago and I had no issues since then.
I am curious.  What did it cost you?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It cost me $1,200 and everything was replaced. And the new coating is much better. I get no bug debree on any part of the RV that is covered.

We are coming from Evansville, Indiana. And after that Door County, Pictured Rock, Petoskey and last Holland, Michigan.

General Discussion / Re: Sanicon Turbo 700 Macerator
« on: May 12, 2025, 01:35:59 pm »
I love my macerator on my 2013 3100. BUT I have had to fix several issues over the years.
1. Macerator stopped working and at first I thought it was the fuse. It wasn't.  After testing the current I found the issue was that electrical connectors at the switch had corroded. These connectors are completely exposed to the rear tire water spray. I replaced the connectors and covered them with liquid tape two years ago. Everything worked great after that.
2. Replaced macerator because it was running slowly. After replacing old macerator I inspected it and found hair was inhibiting bladed to run at full speed. I cleaned it and tested it. The old macerator ran perfect so now I have a spare.
3. My black tank electric valve stopped opening. I opened it manually to drain the black water and replaced the electic valve.
4. I found that the electric tawnk valves need an occational adjustment to have them open completely.

General Discussion / Re: Godzilla Engine?

I have a Scan Gauge on my 2013 3100. I get an average of 10 MPG towing a Ford Fiesta. But speed and road grade makes a huge difference. On flat terrain if I hold 65 MPH i'll get that 10 MPG. If I go to 70 MPH my MPG gove down to 8.6. And if I hold a 55 i'll get as good as 11.5 MPG. But on hills that mileage widely varies.

General Discussion / Re: Dometic AC Smoke and Roof Leak
« on: July 08, 2024, 11:19:52 pm »
First get your ACs model and serial number and call Dometic and get info on the individual manufacturer warranty and their repair policies. It's longer then the Phoenix Cruiser warranty.  Dometic RV air conditioners may come with a warranty that lasts two to three years from the original purchase date.

The only thing that could cause your AC to smell like smoke is a failed/failing fan motor. The same motor turns the fan for the condenser and for circulating the interior air thru the evaporator coils. So it has a shaft on both ends.  If the warranty doesn't cover it a new fan motor is about $100-$200 or less depending on the model. They are usually available on Amazon. If your an DIYer its a fairly simple fix if your comfortable getting up on your roof. If you have never done it before it will only take about 2 hours  I'd recommend also ordering a condenser, fan blade and cleaning out your condenser coils. I was not an expert but just followed YouTube videos to learn what to do. If you have it done the usually labor is around $500 and you can get really price gouged by unscrupulous dealers/techs. BUT the other issue is getting it scheduled in to be repaired.

General Discussion / Re: Solar or lithium or combo?
« on: March 14, 2024, 01:23:13 pm »
CAUTION!!!  be careful before you add lithium batteries and call the manufacturer of both your inverter and converter manufacturers to see what they recommend. I did and found that a lithium house battery and the engine have different voltage profiles and special equipment may be necessary. Plus your converter may use different charging stages and the equalization stage was too much voltage for a lithium battery bank. I avoided all these variables by using 2 12V 100Ah Renology Deep Cycle Hybrid GEL Batteries. They were a perfect in the PC battery tray. And along with my solar panel I've never ran out of normal power needs while dry camping. But I use propane for my frig, use the generator for the microwave and never use the AC. AND Renology Hybrid Gel Batteries are less than $175 compared to over $600 for lithium. I'm on the third year with this setup without every having a dead coach or engine battery while being stored or camping.

General Discussion / Re: Leaking fluid from jack
« on: September 20, 2023, 03:38:14 pm »
Yes I've had that issue and took it to HWH in Moscow, Iowa. They inspected my leveler system and said I had no issues. They said that fluid leakage can happen if the leveler shaft is in the fully extended position. It is not a problem or a bad seal. Just check the fluid level. The tip they gave me was to check the level with a zip tie because it can be easily bent straight downward into the fluid reservoir.

General Discussion / Re: Diamond Shield removal
« on: September 20, 2023, 03:19:39 pm »
Yes, I had it done 2 years ago. They removed the old Diamond Shield and reapplied it in 1 day. I was very happy with the results. And that also included a new warranty, which only stays with the original owner or in my case the person who payed for the install. No paint was damaged.

I started to take it off myself and immediately found this was a job I didn't want to do, especially on the upper cab. What I've found that I most like about the Diamond Shield is not that it protects the paint, but that it is so easy to clean the bugs off.

General Discussion / Re: Mopeds or Scooters

They are both under powered. We started with a Honda 150CC scooter. It could go highway speeds but was terrible going up hills. We actually got pulled over in Seattle pulled over by police for going up hills too slow for traffic.

Your better off getting a street legal small dirt bike like a Yamaha XT250. It is lighter than a comparable scooter, has a lot more power and much better 2 up. We used it for 8 years and never had an issue. We now flat tow a Smart Car.

General Discussion / Re: Wiring for rear camera
« on: August 19, 2023, 10:37:44 pm »
My monitor for the  rear camera went bad and I found out I could not get a compatible replacement. I bought a wireless Haloview 4 camera system, rear overhead, rear license plate and two side view cameras. I had to tap into a power source for each camera. For the side view cameras I had to run new wires. For the overhead I had to find the hot wires from the old system and tap into them. Then for the license plate camera I tapped into the hot wire from the light in the macerator hose compartment. I used that setup for two years now and particularly appreciate the side view cameras when changing lanes.

If you have any electrical dc wiring experience it is doable install.

General Discussion / Re: Macerator hose not draining
« on: August 08, 2023, 11:26:16 pm »
A clear hose allows you to see if there is any water in the drain line. It also allows you to observe any remaining solids when flushing the black tank. But I agree the hose lift is the way to make sure all the water is out of the tube.

I've solved that issue in a different way. I added a clear plastic tube to the macerator drain line. That enables me to see any black or gray water that is in the drain tube.
