General Discussion / The Storm and The Gathering
« on: October 08, 2018, 10:54:59 am »
Hi Folks,
The weather in my home area in Florida is under a storm watch for the days scheduled for The Gathering. It would be unwise for Winnie and I to leave our home unattended under such conditions. Therefore, we will not attend. However, I will leave it to each of you to make your own decision. I will contact the KOA and explain what is happening and leave it to you to contact the campground if you wish to cancel your reservation. Hope we will have the opportunity to meet at another time.
Be safe and happy travels.
Winnie and Bob Markarian

I needed a new custom size mattress for my 2009 twin bed PC Model 2551. I called the factory for a replacement which they could provide, but when they explained the shipping costs  I decided to look elsewhere.  I looked at the second mattress in the coach and noticed it was made by the Original Mattress Factory in 2008. My coach is a 2009 Model 2551. I think this was the original mattress, but cannot be certain. I went on the Internet and located their website.   https://www.originalmattress.com
Unlike many mattress stores, The Original Mattress Factory makes and sells their own mattress. I ordered my custom mattress on a Monday and it was ready for pickup on Thursday. The mattress shipped free from their Florida factory to their Florida store in The Villages.  Since the mattress was only 32" by 72" I was able to transport it home in my Honda Pilot. If you look at their website you will notice that they have many locations throughout the Eastern United States.
This is not an endorsement of this company, but rather my solution to a problem. If you are in need of a custom size mattress maybe this post will help you.

General Discussion / Re: Florida meet-up
« on: June 19, 2018, 03:24:25 pm »
Larry's Florida Meet-up was a great success. Winnie and I had a wonderful time meeting new friends and sharing our travel and camping stories.
The information on The Gathering will be sent by email to the folks who expressed an this Friday. The following week I will post the email on the PC Forum so others can attend if their travel schedules permit. Larry, Thanks again for a great meet-up.

I have driver side awnings on both windows. Living in Central Florida I find it very useful to have the awnings down when the coach is parked in direct sunlight, as it is all day long when we are not traveling.  The driver's side faces the afternoon sun and this helps to keep things cooler inside. I don't think you will regret including them with your purchase.

General Discussion / Re: Forum Update May 22nd @ 8am EST
« on: May 24, 2018, 07:51:28 pm »
I recently looked at the forum page for Phoenix Cruisers for Sale by Members and was surprised to see the coach I purchased in February still listed for sale. Also, the text is yellow, virtually unreadable unless you highlight it.
Hopefully the webmaster will read this post and correct the situation. Glad to see that our website is getting some attention and a makeover. I am sure the issues raised by the membership will be corrected by the webmaster give the time and opportunity to do so.

General Discussion / Re: Electric termination valves
« on: May 14, 2018, 06:08:59 pm »
I too have a gravity pipe outlet with no valve (2009/2551), just an end cap. So I purchased Valterra-T58-Twist-On-Waste-Valve.  https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Sewer/Valterra/T58.html This item simply attaches to the end of the pipe with a bayonet fitting that allows me to attach a 3 inch flexible sewer hose equipped with a bayonet fitting when dumping. Now I have a manual valve at the end of this sewer pipe with a handle within easy reach when and if I need to bypass the Sani-Con system.
This to me was a simple and inexpensive fix for this problem. I cannot understand the logic having no valve at the end of this sewer pipe. If for any reason there was grey or black water in this pipe, removing the end cap would make for a memorable experience. I believe the newer coaches are equipped with a manual valve as seen in a PC video.

General Discussion / More on The Gathering
« on: April 01, 2018, 10:51:43 am »
There seems to be enough interest in a Gathering of the Clan to start initial planning. Attached to this posting is a listing of the membership that responded to the original posting with my interpretation of their interest level in attending. This is very preliminary. We have many months before such an event could be finalized; however all journeys start with a single unsteady step.
Trying to communicate with the members interested in The Gathering, is cumbersome using only the PC Forum. Email is a much better tool; however, all members have not posted their email address. If your email address is not on the attachment and you wish to stay in the loop, please send it to me. Communications from this point on will be via email with occasional updates posted on the PC Forum.
Please notify me if any information on the attachment is incorrect. NO RESPONSE indicates that the individual read and responded to the posting, but did not indicate any interest, positive or negative to the proposal as offered.
More to follow as the communication system is put into place.
If there is no attachment, please contact me as this is my first attempt at using attachments.

General Discussion / Auto Sewer Valves
« on: March 26, 2018, 10:14:57 am »
Hi Folks,
I was wondering if there is a work-around if the auto sewer valves do not open. I carry a 3" sewer hose with me, but as I understand it, the gravity flow will not work unless the appropriate auto valve is open. Can these valves be opened manually?

General Discussion / A Proposal - Gathering of the Clan
« on: March 25, 2018, 07:49:45 pm »
I was wondering if there is any interest on the part of Phoenix Cruiser owners, who are members of the PC Forum, for an informal gathering of the clan in the Florida area. Other owners who do not participate in the forum would be welcome to join in, but I am not sure how to communicate with them. It would be an opportunity for owners to meet and share the excitement of owning a PC and share their travel adventures. Very much like our forum, except in real time and face to face.
This gathering would be open to anyone interested in making the journey to whatever location is selected. Florida is mentioned because that is where I reside and would be willing to help get the ball rolling if there is enough interest. I envision a very informal gathering located in an easily accessible location near a major highway at a campground with full hookups. And if possible a campground that is close to restaurants, shopping and entertainment. At this point in time, no discussions or arrangements have been made with anyone.
Unlike national club rallies, there would be no hosts or formal activities. This is simply a gathering of kindred souls. Each attendee or group of attendees would be responsible for their food and entertainment. The goal is to meet other PC owners and share the joys of our RV lifestyle. I think you get the idea.
If this gathering is of interest to enough PC owners, we could move on to the next step which is to determine the when and where.
If anyone sees any potential problems with this concept please raise your concerns now before this thought proceeds beyond the dreaming stage. I do not want to cause problems with our national organization or any other group I am not familiar with. So please if you see any issues, raise them immediately.
I am most interested in your thoughts and concerns regarding this very preliminary proposal.

General Discussion / Re: Auto Step Issue
« on: March 15, 2018, 04:48:40 pm »
The new switch did not work so I took the coach to a local repair shop that has treated my very well of the years. They had to replace the controller unit and it now works fine. I hope this is the end of this story.

General Discussion / Removing Wheel Covers
« on: March 15, 2018, 04:44:57 pm »
Hi Folks,
I am trying to remove the wheel covers from my 2009 2551PC. ls it as simple as using as a large flat head screw driver to pop the cap or is it held in place with a lug nut that is covered with a fake chrome nut. Cannot locate markings for lug nut on the fake chrome cover if that is the case.
