We got off of reading forums after we got comfortable with our PC 2400 Sprinter (which is named "Fawkes" after the Phoenix bird in Harry Potter).  We haven't been doing any long trips even before the COVID pandemic--started to be too much work for this old guy (77 years old).  That's why we want to flip Fawkes to hopefully make it easier to use.  We'll see what Dave Ponsler says...we aren't in any hurry so if PC can't schedule us for a bit, not to worry.

We want to get two facing sofas - removing the dinette, reupholster the Captain's Chairs, replace the flooring, install auto leveling etc.

When we sold our Casita trailer to get ready to buy our PC, my wife put this together using a Microsoft movie maker program.  We put the You Tube on RV Trader, RVUSA, Escapees forum, and a Casita forum.  We sold the trailer in less than 48 hours with a 5 person alternate waiting list in case the first buyer didn't come through.  You might try doing something similar. . .just a thought. . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhenTUwKGA4

In 1998, Daimler-Benz and Chrysler Corporation announced the world's largest cross-border deal ever,  and the resulting change in company name to DaimlerChrysler AG.  Since Daimler owns Mercedes Benz, the Sprinter was marketed under Dodge as well as Mercedes.  When the RV industry took the historic economic downturn, several RV manufacturers who were either downsizing or going out of business sold their Sprinter chassis at low prices and some RV manufacturers took advantage of this and built Sprinter models for less than new bought chassis.  I don't know if PC built our 2012 2400 on a RV factory pre-owned chassis (2011 Mercedes Sprinter chassis), but we bought it from the second owner for about what a pre-owned Ford chassis 2400 was going for.

On the matter of keeping rodents out of the rig and engine compartments, we do what people who live year round at a squirrel, mouse and other varmint infested Escapees Co-op RV Park near Yosemite do.  We put a small (25w) electric light bulb in the engine compartment, and put LED rope lights all around the bottom of the PC  All these are set on light sensitive timers so they don't stay on during daylight.  Works so far during 20+ years of RVing.

If you can get the VIN from the seller, you might be able to ask The Mothership if they would look up the original owner.  BTW, many Sprinters fell under the Takata air bag inflator recall (our 2012 did).  you could ask the seller for the VIN so you could research the recall.

When we took the factory tour in early 2016 with Earl, we were struck favourably by the build similarities with Foretravel in Nacogodoches, Texas.. http://www.foretravel.com/  We had owned a (much loved) 40 ft Foretravel U320 DP coach when we were fulltiming, and wanted to see how they were constructed and were very impressed with the care taken at every build station.  After Earl showed us around and explained each build station, we knew downsizing to a PC was for us.  Although our budget didn't allow us to buy new, we did find Fawkes, our pre-owned 2 012 PC 2400 Sprinter after extensive research.  After becoming  PC owners, we would tell others about our favorable comparison of Phoenix USA with Foretravel.  It is disturbing to read the above comments about the current experiences; and we will be continuing to monitor this thread before making any further such validations to our several friends who are ready to downsize.  At our age, Fawkes is our final RV and couldn't be happier with the quality of the build.

Hey GARMP, I'm getting ready to put these on my Sprinter  http://yourtireshopsupply.com/product/7193/dl1spfr-chrome-duallyvalve-with-front-stems-dl1spfr  and I called my local Discount Tire Shop and got the best price on their 4 star out of 5 work.  We still use cable ties to hold the wheel covers in place.  The link should get you to the model that fits your Ford.

FWIW, I have been using WD-40 Silicone Spray on my 2012 latches as well as the replacements that Kermit sent me.  So far, so good.  The WD-40 Silicone Spray hasn't gotten sticky like the regular fish oil WD-40 Spray does over time.

Ok, I will be constructively honest.  The new software is worse, in my humble opinion, than the old forum software.  Way too much white space!  I am viewing this on my smartphone.  And the grey text on white background is difficult for us seniors (at least me and my wife) to read.  Most modern forum software gives each user the ability to modify the background/text to colors they like.   Most modern forum software also allows the user to selecr the font size also  I see no options for any of that in my profile options.

Every message now has the profile of the member who made that post at the top.  It used to be in a sidebar, thus making the actual messages spaced too far apart... with mostly white space inbetween messages.

My wife and I are just 2 voices, maybe the others here are happy, but maybe not.  How about Phoenix post a poll to see how folks like the new look?

Same here especially the gray text on a white background.  These 75 year old eyes can't read this style and trying to see the small font on an iPhone is dang near impossible.  This text color seems to be the popular thing among young web designers as I have critiqued MyFitnessPal (UnderArmor Co.) and others for the same issue.  It's hard on us old guys.

One other thing, our profile shows us owning a used 2012 PC2100.  Actually, we own a used 2012 PC2400 Sprinter.  I went to the profile change and all that was offered was 2400 Ford!  Please fix.  Thank you.

Well done!  Nice critique!  2o2We took the very informative factory tour before we bought our used PC from a dealer in Florida in Dec.2016 (PC had a Ford 2400 but we wanted a Sprinter).  We went back to PC after buying Fawkes to have an awning installed and you would have thought we were buying one of each PC model by the excellent service. As we travel and people admire Fawkes, we are lavish with our positive comments about “The Mothership”.
