1st road trip
« on: October 26, 2026, 09:57:02 am »
We just returned in our 1st road trip in the recently acquired PC. Overall the trip was a great success with only a few minor issues. We did an Appalachian mountain tour to see some sights and the weather was absolutely perfect. Also met a couple other PC owners along the way.

The pics below are of the 2 other PC owners rigs, one of which looks exactly like Ron's.  Neither of these owners had ever heard about the PC forum here. The tunnel pics are of Nada tunnel in the red river gorge. The PC will fit and its a very cool passage.

The issues i discovered are as follows:

1.  I had seen somewhere on this forum mentioned about some things being wired backwards in the dump system and im convinced now we have the same issue. My gray and black tank valve actuator switches are reversed. The stink water comes out when i click the gray button and cleanish water comes out when i click the black button. Im hoping this will be an easy swap of the connectors on the back of the switch housings. I had suspected something was wrong on my prior camp excursions but this week i dumped everyday so i got to look into it further. The larger square tank in the center of the rv valve operates from the gray tank switch and the smaller rectangular tank just behind the dump station bay operates from the black tank switch. I'll let yall know how i proceed.

2. One of the camps i stayed at was 7 miles off the highway at the end of a very rough washboard gravel road. The wife was driving and i had to tell her several times to go slower as it was beating the camper to death. As i was setting up i noticed the the roku stick for the main TV seemed to have been dislodged from the HDMI input so now i get to take the TV back out to fix that but should be very easy. The other issue i found was one of my tires looked very low. Luckily i had taken along my dewalt portable air compressor and topped it off. It was down to 25 pounds, outer dually tire. The PO i bought the PC from had told me that he had removed the tireminder TPMS sensor from that wheel as it had a bad oring and would over time allow the tire to go down. I hadnt bother to investigate this any further as it hadnt gone down since i bought it...until now. Held ait fine for the remainder of the trip and on the final leg home we hit another patch of very rough highway and saw that it was low again when i got home, so both times after a rough road section. I decided to check the extra sensor that the PO had removed and when i screwed it onto the valve stem extension hose i noticed that the threaded part of the hose would turn inside the hose crimp, so i suspect the extension hose is actually the culprit andleaks when its bouunced around from a rough road. Ive ordered new extension hoses and will update with a new thread once i solve that issue.

It seems like your initial shake-down trip went smoothly with only two issues requiring simple DIY solutions.  Good for you.  As with "Everything RV", stay on top of what goes wrong (stuff will happen) and enjoy your trips.  Fortunately, PC problems run fewer than most other brands of motorhomes.  During our trips, I always write down in a spiral note pad, what could use attention or improvement that I cannot address during the trip.

BTW: Cool that you ran into other PC owners.  We rarely get such opportunities, and the few we do is a hit or miss concerning a conversation with the owner.

Neat tunnel!

Impressive. I'm not sure if I would have driven through the tunnel,,, and if I did, I surely would have left a crease in the diver's seat.  :beg

Also surprised to see so many PC's in one place. Outside of last year's rally in Natchez MS, I've only seen 3 or 4 over 6 years.

I did check the dimensions of that tunnel before going thru so i knew the PC would fit. Had i ended up with a minnie winnie like i had originally been looking for i would have had to find a different route. Its barely 12 ft height clearance. And those 2 PC i met were in different states on back to back campground stays.  The one was a 2002 2100 and the one that looks like Rons was a 2007 2350.

Wideglide -  Our 2006 also had the tank switches reversed for black and gray.      I chose to simply re-label them - correctly.     Works for us !
Congrats on completing your first trip !       We love the Appalachians also.    Like Ron,  I also have a notepad handy for things that need attention after a trip.  So easy to forget !

A notepad and pen are on my current mental list to add to the rv.......so i dont have to try to remember things. At my age ive learned that one of the biggest lies you tell yourself is "ill remember to do that later"
