Sewer hose storage
« on: September 28, 2026, 09:04:26 am »
Finally got around to copying Ron Dittmer and others and installed a sewer hose storage tube. I think its pretty much is about the same location and everything. I made some custom brackets to attach to the frame out of unistrut and used cone nuts for 1/4-20 machine screws. I had to fabricate a custom bracket to support the end closest to the wall and installed it with 3in screws into the sub floor near the low point drains. Holds the tube and all the adapters nicely. The only complaint is the door latch on the end of the tube seems rather loose so i have places some clips in the hole meant for a lock to prevent accidental opening when driving.

Had to break up pics into 2 posts. FYI the 3 in screws were necessary because apparently the is about 2 inches of styrofoam insulation between the interior wood floor and the outer bottom rubber skin. At least thats what it looked and felt like. Kept trying longer screws until i hit the wood.

Your 2011 PC-2350 being different than my 2007 PC-2350 (the outdoor storage compartment relocated in 2008), I wondered how it could be managed.  Yours seems quite secure and set ~1.5" lower for straight access naturally making it easier to utilize, a great convenience when it is your primary dumping method.  Good for you.

Thanks Ron. Of course i did get the idea from your long list of improvements thread. We will primarily use the sanicon system and just gravity dump as a back up. Mainly wanted to share for the benefit of others who need a good way to store their stuff.

Such a storage tube could be utilized to store fishing poles or other long difficult-to-store items.  Just be sure dedicate the tube for such a purpose.

How do you gravity dump, in the event that the Sanicon system fails, or the Barker auto drain valves?

Does not every PC have a manual dump backup system?

Camperfan i would assume yours should be set up just like mine. The drains for the gray and black both feed into a 4 way 3inch pipe. 2 input and 2 output. The 2nd output is capped and thats where i will hook gravity dump hose when i ever need to do it. It points straight to the rear bumper. As far as the valves mine have a small ring that you can pull out and then rotate the valve handle clear of the actuator so you can open/close manually if your actuator has failed. I'll snap a few pics tonight an add them either here or a new post for you tomorrow.

Agreed, I think they are all initially setup the same. All of the maceration videos from the factory shows the pump on the outside port and the cap on the rear port. I decided to swap the 2 out ports,,,, I put the maceration on the one that points to the rear (with replacement straps to support it). and the cap on the one that points to the diver's side.

This swap accomplishes 2 things
1. It makes it much easier access when you want to connect using the larger sewer hose.  It is now in plain sight when you are on you knees, but hidden when standing.
2. It moves the maceration pump out of sight. I personally didn't like seeing it stick out at the edge of the fender shirt.

Here's a pic of my rig connected to sewer using the traditional stinky slinky hose. Port Lavaca county park puts the connection right in the middle of the parking spot (no idea why!) instead of in the ground the drivers side.... Even the water and power are on the wrong side. That aside, you can see how easy it is now to connect a hose in this config.  LOL,,, looking through my photo library I must avoid taking pics of the sewer connection. This was the only one I could find. I think it took it specifically to show someone the weird setup at this beach RV Park,.
