I agree,,, after discovering that the front is held on by snaps over screws, it was not that difficult to get into the sofa. However my intent was to find squeaks in the sofa as it made a lot of noise while I was driving down the highway. So there are places where I added nylon washers, sometimes as much as a half inch on the same bolt, to eliminate the noise AND to level up the sections so that it made a flatter bed. After I did that, it was much better to sleep on. See the attached picture.
I can't suggest much on improving the cushions, sorry. Once I got mine level they looked pretty good. One day, tho... I will probably recover the entire sofa. And replace the cushions with memory foam that be cut wider/longer to fill the gaps between sections.
