RV Insurance
« on: March 14, 2023, 08:43:44 pm »
I have had my rv insurance with National General (Good Sam) for six years. At my age, going on 80 years young, I don't have replacement value. I have always negotiated a settlement price based on what I paid for the RV. I have never had a claim of any kind. Our cost for $125,000 of coverage during this past year was $1,287.00. We travel about 6 months a year. I expect National General to raise my policy about 10%. I am interested to see what some other owners are paying. As shown in my profile, we own a 2020 2552 loaded with every option including Liquid Springs. If we were to have a large claim, at my age, we would just stop rving. Your thoughts, thanks, Chuck :)

We use Progressive Insurance our current premium was $819 and we do have replacement cost for a total loss. We live in Massachusetts and we have had 1 claim 2 years ago worth $40k after having a tree fall on the front. We need to renew in August, l'm not sure if or what the increase will be.

I have had coverage via State Farm.  $900 per year.  Had a lot of hail damage a few years ago, $7000+  paid to repair, zero issues with the claim

We also carry the State Farm Ins.  Around  $ 1000, full coverage, including road service.    Covered our stolen cat. converter penny for penny 2 years ago.

We are paying about $1300 a year for our 2019 in South Dakota which is certainly more than $819 in Massachusetts! Unfortunately we have a lot of hail storms in our area which usually drives up insurance premiums. I have full replacement cost also which is a holdover from when we had fulltimers insurance. I had to negotiate years ago with Progressive to retain some of the fulltimer provisions but it was worth it.

Thanks for your replies. I was quoted $925 from Progressive, not bad. FYI, National General, through Good Sam, has a program that allows you to put your RV in storage when not in use. At which time your collision insurance is withdrawn until you take it out of storage. Storage can be a rented storage facility or your home. My renewal policy is $1075 but once I place our PC in storage for December, January, July & August the policy was reduced to approximately $825. National General will send you a check for the storage period. If you remove the RV from storage you will be billed for the time back in use. This program works for us as we don't travel during these months & our PC is stored at our home with FHUPS. Also, they have an app that allows you to manage your policy. You can place your RV into storage/remove form storage by calling through the app. I expect we will add another 6 or 7 weeks to storage. They make it easy to take advantage of this program. You can download their app through the Play Store. Chuck :)

My National General insurance  premium just tripled WTH? I’ve been with them since 2015 with zero claims or tickets. Thanks a lot Allstate. It’s time to shop for new home, auto, and rv insurance.
