What’s it worth

Morning all,  my wife are just contemplating a life change and are exploring the possibility (not certain though) of selling the RV.  We have a 2012, 2552 in outstanding condition with 15800 miles on it. Everything works with no leaks.  It has the sofa rather than the dinette.  What do you all think it would be worth ($$$$) as a private party sale. I looked at NADA with all the options added but I am curious of real world value. Thank you in advance.

A tougher market is coming. Interest rates are way up which affects potential buyers. Dealer lots are packed with new units now. At least thru California , NV, Utah and Idaho that I witnessed this past summer. Your up side is you have a rig from a well known quality manufacture.  Unlike a year ago there’s going to be fewer buyers and few willing to over pay. That’s not all bad, those out there will be serious buyers.  I think if it was me I’d be doing a lot of research, watching Craigslist etc and doing my best to get a feel for the market.

Thanks for the info.  We have looked at RV Trader which has limited pre-owned rigs near our model year.  I think you hit the mail on the head though which is what I was afraid of.  Here in WA, the lots are packed…even the consignment RV lot near our city.  Thanks for the input.  This is very helpful .

Steve, The window for inflated prices for motorhomes is fast closing, but even so, I think you could find a buyer fairly quickly for half that of a brand new 2023 equivalent, if advertizing nationally in all available venues.  I think that puts your PC in the $85,000-$90,000 range.

I understand that the market has become saturated, but with other quality brands like Born-Free and Lazy-Daze fallen away, the Phoenix Cruiser and Coach House seem to be the only "known" quality brand left standing.  Hoosier Custom Cruisers is now a player, but they are not yet a known name.  This means your PC holds even more value.

But I am surely no authority on this.....just my personal opinion.

Thanks Don, your price range is closer to what NADA noted. However, I know reality.  Thank you all for the info.  This is just a thought and I really do not want to sell but wanted to put feelers out.

My 2 cents on this:

All else aside, you have a 10 year old coach, with essentially break-in mileage only.  It appears to not have full body paint.  I don't know how you have stored in, inside or outside.  Your tires are probably the original tires.  You have the older interior lighting and features, etc.

Considering my 2015 model 2551 was sold brand new for mid $90's (so yours was less) my GUESS on it's value now is $50k to $60k.

The new owner is going to have to put new tires on it (presuming you have original tires) all lubricants changed, etc I wouldn't expect any higher price.

I have made some updates.  The interior map/reading lights are LED, less the tube fluorescent bulbs.  Tires are newer and maintenance is done regularly.  Although pictures don’t really show it,  it is nice and shiny as I take care of the exterior with an orbital and marine wax as suggested by another person in this thread. New coach battery in April 2022. And because of theft, I got a new catalytic converter (CAT) from the dealer when I bought it..  The dealership got hit with 15 CAT thefts in 1 night.

Thor industries just reported a blowout quarter with  a 24% increase in motorized rv unit sales, but also declined to provide forward guidance. Kind of surprising, but they also bought out much of the competition.


Our local THOR and WBGO dealership is loaded with $$$$ new class B ProMaster  vans and diesel class C Sprinters. It’s a shame because when demand was high in 2020-2021 they couldn’t get any inventory.

Here’s a link from Camping World’s latest used rv sales event email. Prices are high but they are constantly running ads on television offering to buy your rv.  Even if they low ball you it couldn’t hurt to inquire.

Again. Thanks for all the information as it is very helpful.  Like I noted previously, this was really just a search for information at the moment. We’re not quite sure what we’re going do yet.  But until something happens which really makes us want to make a change in life, we’re going to keep the coach. We love it.

PPL Motorhomes is a very large consignment dealer with three locations in Texas.  I have both purchased and sold motorhomes through them and found them to be real pros.   Here is a link to previous sales giving price, descriptions, etc of actual transactions.  You can search by brand, price, type of rig etc. and the site is very user friendly.   I find it a good place to go for real world prices based on actual sales.
