Wrench Icon and vibration.
« on: June 30, 2022, 11:38:38 am »
Yesterday, while on the way home from southern Oregon coast, we were cruising North on I-5 toward home. While on cruise control,  I decided to go get gas. When I pressed the “off” button on the cruise control the wrench icon illuminated on the dash. According to the manual it was supposed to go in limp mode but it never did. I got gas, restarted vehicle drove home no problem.  The light never came back on. Then when home, checked the DTC codes and there was no code. Anybody ever experienced this before?  I tried the cruise control again and pressed the off button to see if I could replicate it…and it was ok. I think I might’ve been a glitch, however just curious if anyone has had experience with the “wrench icon” before and what it may be.
All seems well now.

On another note, I also noted a slight vibration from 40-45mph both accelerating and decelerating. There’s no vibration in the steering wheel.  It just feels like the coach is slightly shaking. Kind of like going down a slightly rough road. Any ideas?

Thanks, Steve

I had a similar episode with my 2012 3100. I believe it was triggered by tapping the brake pedal while the cruise was on. Cruise shut off and wrench icon lit up. Coach would not accelerate above 45mph and there was a vibration. Safely pulled off the road. Shut off the engine. Waited a few minutes. Started it up and drove another 500 miles with no recurrence.  Put a code reader on it and no codes registered. Searched the internet and found articles describing similar episodes stating it could be caused by a dirty gas filter and/or a dirty air filter. My air filter is a KN.
I cleaned and reoiled the air filter and changed the gas filter. No problems in the last 3000 miles. The gas filter is inexpensive and there's several how-to videos online.
Good luck!

Sounds good. Thanks for the input.  I see a new fuel filter in my future.  I hear that the E-450’s like new air filters often as well.
Thanks again.
