We just came back from a quick trip to Canada. Removing the thermal switch/fuse from the macerator (run dry protection) fixes the cut in and out issue with these pumps. Granted you have to be there when the tank is empty so it doesn’t run dry too long but I’m not sure who walks away for any extended time when completing this task.

When I removed the thermal switch in mine I also sharpened all sides of the blades while I had it apart.  No idea if that had a + or - effect on anything.

Pump works perfect every time with no stopping and starting. I also took one of my old macerators removed for this problem and did the same and carry it as a back up but I no longer see the need.

I hope this helps anyone going thru this issue with a macerator that has run dry protection.
